I have heard it said that it is a hormonal thing. They will not be dry at night until this hormone has kicked in and there is no way you can control that. So, according to this theory, TT;ing at night will just lead to frustration and resentment all round.

The other theory is that you can 'lift' them at night. That is, take them( half awake) to the toilet when you go to bed. If they have wet the bed already, the next night do it earlier (as it generally happens at a certain part of the sleep cycle). If they are dry, hopefully they wont have enough to wet the bed during the night. Then get the to the toilet AS SOON AS they wake in the morning, as they also generally wee first thing.

Good Luck!

Yes you can't train them at night

you don't want to lift at night as the whole point is they realise they need to go and wake up

so you just wait until for 3 consectutive nights they have a dry nappy and then you go for it

if they're still waking up with a sodden nappy in the morning there's no point
save yourself the hassle and the washing

Wify - If he is waking wet most mornings it will be more hassle than it is worth. He will get there - just in his time scale!!LOL

I agree with Compo you can't train them to be dry at night and definately no to night time lifting. My eldest DS only just dry at night at 7 YO. We made the mistake of night time lifting, think this just trained him to wee in his sleep. My youngest now 3.6 was dry during day and night at same time 2.4 which was a godsend after problem with eldest. If he's dry in the mornings then try him without nappies and put a mattress protector or those pampers sheets on. Good luck

Yep, night time training totaly pointless. DS has been dry during the day for over a year now but is still wet most mornings. He decided he hated nappies just after his 2nd birthday and was day trained within a fortnight. He'll decide when he's ready to be dry at night too. Saves so much heartache that way.

ds1 has only been dry at night for about 3 months and he was 4 in feb. We never did anything just noticed he suddenly had dry nappies in morning. He now occasionally gets up for a wee in night but otherwise just goes when he gets up in morning. Until a few months ago he always had huge wee nappies each morning and it suddenly changed.
