Is your baby FF? I found it much less hassle to use cartons of formula than try and make up bottles.

Wrt sterilising of bottles I don't think I ever found a perfect solution. I think I used to put sterilised bottles in a bottle holder and was just careful not to touch the teat etc when I filled the bottle. You can get cold water sterilising bags from mothercare etc though - so could in theory take the bags with you and fill up with cold water once you get through security?

I vaguely remember taking sterilised bottles on holiday. I got them from boots many many moons ago.

Check with your airline exactly what you will be allowed to bring. You don't want to buy a lot of milk/water/powder for it then to be thrown out at the check point.

Long time ago but we boguht sterilising bags form Boots/Mothercare like these. You had a specially sized tablet and just added cold water to the bag, hung in shower or bath and soaked the items. For the journey can you take presterilised empty bottles and teats (I used to seal the teats like this) and some ready made cartons (buy airside).

You can buy pre-sterilised bottles - i think they're called steri-bottles... that will be easier.. then cold water sterilser for hotel. (although if you have access to a microwave you can get travel microwave sterilsers)
Even though it would mean carrying alot - I would make sure you have extra bottles, milk, nappies etc for an extra 2 hours (so plan for 12 hrs) you never know with delays. Take a complete change of clothes for both of you as well just in case!
Don't forget to request a bulkhead seat and a skycot - makes life a bit easier - but you will have to have baby on your lap for take off and landing. (they will give you a special seat belt extender)
Try and schedule a feed for take off and landing - the sucking will help clear baby's ears...
Oh - I found a sling/carrier useful for getting on and off plane - freed my hands up and sometimes you don't get pushchair back til baggage pick up..

Where do you live?

If you near NW London - I have a huge stock of steribottles that you can help yourself to.

mumofprincess · 22/07/2010 21:21

OP, suggest you call the Boots store direct and check what they have in stock if you plan to buy milk at the airport.

Also, if your baby hasn't had the milk from cartons before, try her with it in advance, sometimes they hate the carton stuff (even if same brand as powdered forumula) and you need to try different brands.
