Does anyone know if I can do graduate teacher training with these qualifications.

I'm interested in secondary school teaching, ideally biology/science.

I have a degree in criminology and an advanced diploma in midwifery. My midwifery diploma is the same as the midwifery degree but without the dissertation. I've never bothered topping up to a degree as I'd have to pay for it myself and I already have a degree.

I've heard of people with midwifery degrees getting accepted to do teacher training but mine isn't a degree, though I have a degree in a different subject.

i think the gener idea for pgce is that you just need a degree but it would be worth just calling a few admissions teams at a uni or two... Might be easier to do post-compulsory pgce though....

Good luck

Your best bet would be to contact the admissions tutor at the university (or -ies) that you would be interested in studying at.

I don't know about secondary, but for a primary PGCE they will often accept students with a degree which isn't relevant to the primary curriculum if they have experience of working with children.

As long as you have ANY degree you can do GTP. You wouldn't even have to mention the MW quals. We have a teacher with a BSc in Forensic Science in our dept.

If you have a "non relevant" degree and want to go into one of the shortage subjects (I believe science is one of them) then I believe you can do a years short course in the subject you want to teach in before doing the teaching qualification. I think it's something called "prepare to teach" but it's worth looking at the TDA website.
