Nursery rhyme, fairy tale and bedtime stories recommendations

Hi all,

Does anyone have a really good recommendation for a nursery rhyme, fairy tale or bedtime story book? I don't live in the UK so cannot go and browse. Can order English books though, but obv, can't look through them until they have been delivered.

Would love a nursery rhyme book with a CD which has all the old classics in. Fairy Tale book, would love a hard-cover, nicely illustrated. Bedtime story book, would love one with tons of different, short stories.

Grateful for any help.

My DD is three and her favourite nursery rhyme book with a CD is called Playtime Rhymes, by Angela Dijksman and Heather Chivers. It's published by Audiobooks.
I'm afraid I can't give you any other recommendations right now as my DCs are asleep and their books are all in their rooms!!

Sorry, it's published by Orion Audiobooks.

All DS's favourite books are written by Julia Donaldson (The Gruffalo, The Snail and the Whale, Monkey Puzzle) to name a few. We have the books with DVD which are really good. The words in the stories all rhyme which means they are really easy to read and help children with language skills.
We also love the good old traditonal style books like Paddington Bear, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Tiger who Came to Tea.

You can buy all the books mentioned from Amazon

Julia Donaldson books - absolutely brilliant!

Fairybubbles is spot on! DD loves Charlie Cook's Favourite Book and The Gruffalo in particular, but all of them are excellent.

Does anyone have one book with lots of different short stories in it? That's what I had in mind as a bedtime story book
