Hello, have a 2 year old and am expecting another one in Nov. Thinking of taking an OU course in the new year, am I taking on too much? Am thinking of starting with a 30 point course first.

I don't have plans to return to work for at least another year/18 months after the birth of the baby, but am interested to know whether other mums found OU courses good for helping with finding new directions/jobs.

Yeah I think it does rub off on the children. I grew up with my mum studying and sometimes the only time I saw her was when we were sat together at the dining table doing our homework together.

Mind you I thought she was nuts then, lol. You have to study an OU course to know what the fuss is about, lol.

Good luck for the 2 level 3s. I'm sure you'll be fine!

stargazer, my courses were technical, but not chemistry.

Hi Yingers....

I've been doing OU for a while now and I also have a 2 yr old and another on the way soon. I'm working full time and have taken on two 60 point courses.

TBH I do have to get up at 5 and sometimes go to bed at 2am but I'm hoping this will get easier once i'm on maternity leave.

30 points should be no problem and even a 60 point course should be reasonable if your intending on doing a level 1 course such as A103.

just got my prep material and I think it will be ok although have to splash out on a special calculator! It feels nice to have a textbook in my hand again although that may sound strange! It has been nine years since I did my first degree and I think it will be nice to study just for the sake of studying again although I may eat my words!

Good luck to all those embarking on a new OU course in the new year!

horseshoe- wow you are dedicated, what are you studying?
