Hi,

it's my daughters best friends 5th birthday next week. I wanted to get her something a bit different and special.
She has been such an angel to my daughter and she's going through hard times at the moment as her Dad has recently walked out and dosn't speek to her for weeks on end.
I don't want anything too extravegant, just something to put a smile on her face. She's in to fairys, especially tinkerbell, and is just really girly.
My daughter is in to farming machinary at the moment. I suppose opposits attract.
I'd be greatful for any ideas.

go to tk mx and buy the sparkliest princess dress up dress you can find

Hair clips/bobbles/bands etc? I seem to remember having a massive collection when I was little and was never seen in the same combo twice!

A toy shop near me has lovely wooden bead sets that you can make necklaces out of (beading like charlie and lola)

Thank you, both sound good.

My DD is five, and yes she loves any dressing up dress,so if you can get something sparkly then do,Fairy wings are good.Glitter shoes (monsoon).Any kind of dolly, cuddly animals still very popular, and if you are really broke then sparkly stickers always go down well.

KickButtowski · 25/06/2010 20:18

How about a pretty handbag (esp H&M or Monsoon)- my dd has about 7 different ones and she just puts her important things in one, looks at it and then empties them out again and moves on to the next one. She can spend over an hour doing this, in absolute bliss! Makes her feel very grown up taking one out with her too, because it is a proper bag and not a toy

ooh, lots of lovely ideas! The bag and glitter shoes sound great.

mummyloveslucy · 25/06/2010 21:14

Oooh yes, they are gorgeous. I think the girls would fight over these. My daughter might have some boyish interests, but she still loves her shoes.

I was looking for some jewelled mules that I got from there for my dd but they have sold out. Those glitter ones come in gold too,and red but the red is sold out in the size you would need.

DD2 got this from my mum for her birthday, and loves it.

She got a little Alive Cub baby leopard from us for Christmas which she adores (but it has to be the small one, the big one's crap!)

Sylvanian families are very popular with that age group.

What about a princess makeover? Loads of people do sparkly make-up for kids, and u provide fairy wings or tiara.

Or do u have a "ceramic experience " or something similar near u? Take the 2 girls there, and they can choose a wee ceramic character to paint. One could paint a fairy and the other a tractor

A craft kit? Your daughter could decorate a shoe box and you could fill it with glitter/beads/stick-on jewels/shiny paper.

A note-book and sparkly pen (doesn't matter if they can't yet write, in my experience.)

Or my 5 year old's perennial favourites are boxes to put her precious things in. She has several now, from a Cath Kidston sewing box to a very cheap pink padded little heart shaped one. She loves them all. I can imagine that one of the musical jewellery boxes with the ballerina/fairy spinning round would just about make her explode with excitement. As would any box with a lock, for precious secrets.
