Present advice for 1st birthday

I had ordered a really nice clock for my little one's bedroom for her birthday. I know she is only 1, but I had been over the last few months getting her bedroom nice for her. It arrived today and I found the clock had been badly scratched and the hands didn't work. So complained to the company that sent it, they said they will refund me.

I have no idea what to give my little one for a present now, money is tight and will be tighter soon due to cut backs. I have money sitting in my paypal account but nothing in my purse until dh gets paid until the end of the week.

Have until Friday afternoon, I wanted to get her something special so that I could say in the future - you had that of us for your first birthday.

Any ideas what you have given your little ones for presents and any websites I could try that accept paypal and will deliver quickly ?

we are prob. going to get DS a tricycle that he can be strapped in to and grows with him. Its not a keepsake but will last some years. Kids don't really get the idea of sentimental value and the chances of whatever it is lasting throughout their childhood and safely into adulthood (unless its a teddy) are slim.
Ebay obviously for paypal but other than that don't know

She doesn't have to have it on her actual birthday - she wont notice. Save your money till you can find something you really like.

I didn't get my DTs a present for their 1st birthday.

DS just turned 1 last week. The hit present was a trolley walker filled with bricks. He's played with it non-stop ever since, pushing it everywhere (and graduating from crawling to walking with it), building towers from the bricks and filling it and emptying it with random things around the house. It was a present from his grandparents, who personalised it with a "number-plate" with his initials which they stuck on the front. I think it cost about 25 quid from the Early Learning Centre.

I've bought our nearly-1 a wooden Jack-in-the-Box for his birthday.

I think i got my first ds a wooden pull along toy with his name engraved into it for his first birthday. DS2 is 1 in August and im considering a trike with parent handle, think its easier having a baby with a summer birthday lol

I really like the pintoy chairs which come with different animal faces if you're still looking for something for her room. It would last right through toddlerhood and be useful too. You can buy new ones on eBay if you wanted to use your paypal account.

I really wouldn't worry too much about having the present on the actual birthday - a balloon and a big empty cardboard box would go down a storm!
