Night time nappies - do they have to be two parters?

I have (posted about it elsewhere) got a couple of bumgnius v3.0s to try out when the baby arrives. They seem v easy to use and DH is enthused about them to, so if I/baby gets on with them, I will buy a stash when the baby is a few weeks old.

What about for night-time, perhaps when he/she is a bit older (I guess in the early weeks I will getting up every 3ish hours anyway to feed, so will change his/her nappy - or would you not bother with a nappy change?)?

Those of you who use nappies like bumgenius (pockets, all in ones etc), what do you do at night and when is a night time nappy needed?

I am thinking about trying a size 2 tots bots stretchy, but am slightly putt off by the idea that I might need the nappy, a booster, a liner and a wrap! Lazy? Yes!

What have you all found that works?

If I possibly can, I would like to get about 4 (easy!) nappies for night time (distinguishable from the bumgenius for ease!) that I can leave on the baby all night, unless he/she poos, even if he/she wakes up for a feed. I seem to remember that my Mum found (for my brother who is 14 years younger than me) that the baby stayed half asleep for a feed but properly woke up for a nappy change.

Sorry - another long post!

I am amazed that a Dreme Eze [sp] does last the night. It is a nice, sized all-in-one but I much prefer a Bedbug with fleece (Sugar Peas).

mumface · 23/06/2010 13:16

I like Drybees fleece pocket, Magic-all minkee AIO and Ecobub wool pockets for nights. They do need extra boosters in though. Have also just got an Issy Bear nappy from Cheeks and Cherries that come with 2 fat inserts and are supposed to be good for night but I havn't tried this yet till I've washed it a few more times.
P.s Bumgenius have just announced they are discontinuing the v3's so you may get a good deal/need to stock up soon if you like them.

legallyblond · 23/06/2010 15:40

Why would they discontinue them? They seem so popular! I guess they're bringing out a version 4...?

It does seem strange to discontinue a bestseller. They havn't said what's replacing them but I believe it's being revealed on the 29th according to their facebook page.

I saw that - I am now in a total quandry. I and DH relly like the look/feel/thought of the bgs v3 (we have played around with the two one's we bought last week - sounds more odd than it is!).... do I go ahead and buy a batch?

I would wait and see, you may like the look of the new ones. There will still be plenty of old stock around going cheaper on the v3's after the new launch I reckon.
Like Totsbots, they have launched a new Easyfit and there's still loads of the old ones on sale now, and plenty on ebay.
(p.s noticed a full set of 16 new v3's on ebay today with some inserts, looks a bargain)

mumface · 23/06/2010 18:15

and Nappyzone have got 20% off them now...

nappyzoneloveschinesefood · 23/06/2010 18:36

There are no V3 left at wholesale so like when the v2 was phased out we could restock and restock till their stock had gone also - this time its what the retailers have and then thats that. I actually feel quite sad about it . If its a version 4 im unsure what the differences could be , the differences between the late v2 and v3 were so subtle some hardly noticed hmmmmmm.

legallyblond · 23/06/2010 18:51

Hmmm... I will think about it tonight but tempted to just go ahead and buy 16 v.3.0s...

Everyone else in the world loves them and now they are £11.80 each!

I used bumgenius through the night with DD1 right up until she was 2and half no problems, just added extra boosters . Use them occationally with DD2 on a night along with tots bots bamboozles, extra boosted lol.

swampster · 24/06/2010 00:26

I used BGs at night on DS3 until he was about four or five months old and after that I couldn't really boost them enough to last a night.

He was a right skinny little thing so I was surprised at how well they fitted from about 8 lb.

A year and a half on, I now have an embarrassing assortment of nappies. The BGs are among the most reliable. But a long way from being the best-looking!

rusmum · 27/06/2010 18:07

i used bumbles or BBH with an airflow- never any leaks

hannabelle · 28/06/2010 09:11

When DD was very small I used a pop-in as a night time nappy and they worked brilliantly as they have the gusset to stop leaks (BGs don't have this and even now DD is older they still tend to leak on her as she is skinny). As she got older I used one of the dri-nite boosters, she was sleeping through for 12 hours and they were fine.

Now she is a bit more wriggly (5 months old) the pop-ins aren't so good over night as the inserts tend to get bunched up. We use bumbles, with a one-life wrap (like an airflow) and they are fab. Cheap too and fairly quick to dry!!
