Working 3 days and balancing hours at nursery, WWYD?

I work 3 days a week M-W and need to decide how to use DS1 15 hours of nursery provision. DS2 will be 10 months when I am back at work and DS1 starts 15 hours of nursery.

DS1 needs loads of sleep and has ages in the afternoon still so I think 3 full days would be too much. Although this would be good as it would mirror my working hours. Downside I don't get much contact with nursery as my mum would be dropping off and collecting. We would however get Thurs-Fri-Sat-Sun all together.

Option 2 would be to do 1 full day and 2 mornings. 1 morning would be on my day off and I thought I could spend some 1:1 with DS2 as he seems to have done nothing like we did with DS1! BUT I feel bad for DS1 as he won't get a day just with mummy. If I did this we would only get Fri-sat-sun all together.

Ah!!!!!!!! WWYD? Other than give up work!

If your mum happy to have him the extra, I would do 1 day and 2 mornings. It will be nice for your DS2 to have 1:1 time with you, remind yourself of the year and a half your DS1 had without your little one!! Plus it'll be easier for you to keep in touch with nursery, which is good for both you.

Or just give up work

For some reason I just hate the idea of "full day in nursery" so I'd go for 1 day and 2 mornings if I were you.
I am sure you will come to a right decision though. For everyone

I used to work 2 full days per week and my kids went to nursery. Since they could talk to me more 'meaningfully' now they are at school, they have both said to me at different times that they didn't like nursery because it was so long (I dropped them off 8.15, got to work 8.30, worked til 5.30, picked them up just before 6). This is much longer than a school day. I now feel guilty. So I think your 1 day and 2 mornings option sounds the best.

I admire you for being able to do it as after a while working part time and having the children I 'cracked up' a bit (from rushing around and from trying to keep up with the skills and changes in only 2 days per week when everyone else was full time), and gave up work. I feel that women who manage it are strong.

I wish I was strong!! I agree, mornings are ideal, I need 1 full days childcare so will have to do 1 longer day, but then I think just mornings will suit him much better.

I don't NEED to use all 15 hours do I?
