Thinking of starting using real nappies what about Blueberrys?

I tried tots bots bamboozles with my DD and didn't get on with them at all so sold them but I know have a 4 month old DS and would like to give real nappies ago.

I thought pocket nappies would be simpler. These seem to have good reviews but was wondering others opinions. Are they absorbent as that was the problem before.

The insert will give you the absorbency. Using hemp inserts has helped a great deal as it is more absorbent than cotton or microfibre inserts. Bamboo is good too.
Blueberry one size BBOS are expensive . You can get cheaper pockets which do the same job, Fuzzi Bunz etc.

I found blueberrys a very bulky fit, prefer coolababys/fuzzy bunz/bambooty etc

The blueberry's come with 2 inserts. I have order 2 to try them and will see how I get on if I like them and find reusables achievable I may try the fuzzi bunz.

It says on there website that you don't need to use any liners or anything else with them is this correct? Does it not mean that you get staining?.

thisisyesterday do you have any that you want to sell?!

you don't HAVE to use liners with any of them (and no you don't get staining if you do a cold rinse before your wash) but I always use them - shaking off a bit of fleece into the loo is far less unpleasant than scraping off a soiled nappy! (I find that solids just fall off fleece liners where as they always seem to stick to the inside of nappies)
and I find disposable liners make cloth more appealing to nursery nurses and babysitters etc so saves having to use disposables for them

I have 2 blueberries and i found them to be ok but bulky. IMO they are far too expensive for what they are though and you can find cheaper and better elsewhere ;)

I have one blueberry and I like it but consider it my 'pretty nappy' for under DD's summer dresses, it is a bit bulky for under trousers so for a boy I'm not sure I'd bother.
Bum Genius v3 are a pocket nappy and are great and slim fitting but are being discontinued so there are lots of sites offering 20% discounts on them. Blueberry are over £20 IIRC.

Brilliant thanks for all your tips, I have just found wee notion and fear this may become a dangerous habit but are their onesize pocket nappies any good?

LOVE Blueberries but find, like most nappies, they need more boosting than their just inserts so I always bung in an extra hemp, bamboo or microfibre booster. They last really well.

I prefer the look of the side-snapping ones but find the one-sizes more reliable.

Cushies Tushies - they are, quite simply, the most ridiculous nappy I've tried. I don't think they should even be calling themselves nappies. I have used mine as a last resort many times and each and every time it has leaked really badly. Once it pretty much fell off as it bulks up at the front and between the legs and weighs itself down. The choc with mint spots is pretty but the fleece inside is black - FFS! And they have the nerve to put the word 'couture' in their name. Stupid name, stupid nappy.

Given a choice between a host of different nappies, DS3 will nearly always choose a Blueberry first and an Itti second. I try to steer him away from the Ittis and towards the BGs, Blueberries and ~Tots Easyfits if we are going to be out for a while.

Blueberries are funny. We used to get dreadful leaks but recently they have been totally reliable. DS3 is 17 months old now.

I like the look of the sized side-snaps best but there is only a small window when they fit perfectly. They are usually either a bit too big or a bit too small.

I have preferred velcro one-sizes to popper ones but right now popper ones are working really well and DS3 usually chooses a popper Blueberry first.

I find the Blueberry insert plus a smallish hemp or bamboo booster or the small BG microfibre one is enough.

They do still get quite damp round the leg cuffs in a way that something like a Bumgenius hardly ever does. But it seldom is an emergency disaster situation like when you leave an Itti on for a little bit longer than you should.
