Got to DS - 19 months and 2 months
we do books and the gym mat all together but i need more ideas?? too often i feel that DS2 is being left on his own bc the toddler is demanding so much attention.

U dont really have to entertain the baby, dd just likes to watch what her older brother is up to, not much really they can join in with at that age.

Not much and I don't think DS2 minds. He either goes in the sling, bouncy chair or on my knee to watch, or he is just chilling out in his basket. Or I am feeding him and DS1 is watching cbeebies/playing/whinging. I think playing together will become easier when DS2 can sit up, and easier again when he can move around. At the moment he sleeps a lot.

Am impressed that you do gym mat btw - we gave ours away as there was too much stomping around/licking/poking ("eyes!") from DS1 for it to be safe or pleasant for poor DS2.

But baby only needs to watch.. lots of soft talking.. music, maybe..

He's verrrry small

As long as he can see what's going on and hear you then that's perfectly fine. Babies love to watch older siblings

I'd get a sling so at least some of the time he can be close to you while you play with DS1. That way he's part of the 'action' too.

thanks - i guess i worry too much about giving DS2 1-2-1 attention
Ive got a sling but it is crap as DS2 is very long, and i cant extend the thing so his head is unsupported - so it is not good for activity bc i have to hold his head most of the time.

intergalactic - our "gym" sessions are quite short and mostly involve me restraining DS1 to shake a rattle too close to DS2 + trying to teach DS1 to make nice noises that DS2 will like (and not shouting in his hears!)
