Unwanted disposables - what to do with them?

I was just wondering if anyone knows what I could do with some unwanted disposable nappies. I over-purchased some Pampers Micro (size 2-5 lbs) for my daughter, but she outgrew them before we could finish the packet. I have 2 packs, with just a couple of nappies taken from each. I also have a pack of Huggies organic cotton, newborn size, which I used 1 of, but didn't like. It seems ridiculous to throw them in the bin, but I am at a loss as to what to do with them. Would a nursery take them? Or would it be a problem that they've been opened? I live in Surrey. Any suggestions would be welcome.

(btw, we're now using Bumgenius, and very happy!)

Offer them to a friend/charity shop/Women's Refuge/Homeless Refuge.

cravingcroissants · 11/06/2010 17:51

I'm sure they'll be of use to someone on here

freecycle / freegle

Thanks for the suggestions. I'd be happy to send them to someone, they're only light to post. The Micro ones are suitable for slim hipped/tiny bottomed babies, as my daughter was 6lb 7, but they fitted nicely.

Lots of childrens shelters will be grateful for them for babies who have no parents or are taken into care. We have one locally that we donate clothes etc to, we got lots of free disposable wipes when DD2 was born that we took down (we used cheeky wipes) and they were more than pleased to accept them!

BikeRunSki · 11/06/2010 20:27

Surestart will be able to pass them on to a family in need.

For the micro i would also ask your local neo-natal unit.

i would like to know where you got them from my niece has just come out hospital and we are struggling to find any where to buy these nappies

onadietcokebreak · 19/06/2010 22:32

Kerriejayne...mothercare and boots should stock them.

blake11 · 20/06/2010 00:20

Kerriejayne - I got them from Boots. I still have them, I'd be happy to post them to your niece, 2 packs almost full. Not sure how we get in touch for contact details tho?

A selfish suggestion - Keep them for dressing the dolls in in a while....

TurtleAnn · 21/06/2010 21:11

I gave mine to the charity that posts bags through our front door. They did extremely well, they got over 250 disposables, following our Pampers nightmare and search for alternatives that were useless to me.
Happy in local council prefolds and about to get some bumbles and thirsties for night time use xxx sharing the cloth love

Mummy2Bookie · 24/08/2010 19:32

Why not keep them for your next child?

lifeas3plus1 · 24/08/2010 22:31

I took mine up to the special care baby unit. They where very grateful.

Ariela · 25/08/2010 09:57

Is there a local charity collection point would take them for going overseas? near us we have Feed the Children. You coudl also offer them on Freecycle or Freegle as is now known.

blake11 · 25/08/2010 15:19

Thank you for the suggestions, I have now given them to my local women's refuge.
