Does this mean I'm ready for dc2???

Dh and I want another soon but I've been putting it off. Not sure why.
a friend has just announced they are expecting dc2 and I feel jealous!!!
this is despite being a single mummy for the last week while dh is in USA. And being up every hour last night with ds teething!

Does this mean I'm ready?

i think your body starts telling you 'have another -it's not so bad' but IMO i would stick at one. you have the time and the resources to give to one child - you don't have to give to two or more.

if i had my time over, i would have stuck at one.

How old?

I started TTC when DS1 was 5 months old!

Go for it, its lovely having 2 (or more!)

YoginiPinkBikini · 08/06/2010 18:54

I'd say so

Really Custardo? That's controversial! I think you do forget the horrors of having a newborn in the house and nature gets yo all gooey again. That's why after having DS2 DH promptly went and got the snip. All done at 2!

YoginiPinkBikini · 08/06/2010 18:55

Do you honestly feel like that Custardo? What a shame

mrsflux · 08/06/2010 18:56

Ds is a very easy going 14mo who is now walking confidently. Would therefore avoid two under two senario. And in 9+ months he'd need lots less carrying etc- just as well as he's size of 2yo already!

Ok you've convinced us - you're ready!

Tortington · 08/06/2010 19:04

yes i do feel like that. its not a shame for me. for us, its simple facts.

YoginiPinkBikini · 08/06/2010 19:07

I'm sorry Custardo, That was the wrong phrase to use

Regrets are just such a hard thing to bear

Tortington · 08/06/2010 19:11

thats ok - its a sensative subject. i dont wish my children away. i love them all of course. however practically and emotionally, we could have devoted so much energy and finances to one child that we simply did not have for three.

i would rather have done my very very best with one - than just muddle through with three

YoginiPinkBikini · 08/06/2010 19:15

I understand

lovechoc · 08/06/2010 19:18

OP if you feel ready for it then try for no2. I didn't feel ready til DS was at least 2yo - due DS2 next month (DS1 will be 3.2yo). Will be done at 2 same as madamebovine though!

callmemamma · 08/06/2010 19:25

You better do it before your DH changes his mind and tells you he doesn't want another child as mine did and you'll be as miserable as I am now (

lovechoc · 08/06/2010 19:29

and custardo I'm sure many mums of 3 children or more would say the same as you except they don't want to be flamed for having such an opinion, by others. At least you had the courage to admit your true feelings.

Tortington · 08/06/2010 19:36

ty

foreverastudent · 08/06/2010 19:37

Wait another few months then you avoid:

2 in nappies at once

double buggies

2x nursery fees

2x uni fees at one in the future

2 highchairs and cots

Plus it's healthier for you to have a reasonable gap between pregnancies.

lovechoc · 08/06/2010 20:19

I agree with foreverastudent. if you are able to hold off a bit longer you can just re-use all the baby equipment you had for the first DC, rather than having to splurge on a second lot of cots and prams etc. this is why we waited until DS was at least 2yo - he was in his own bed by this point, was sitting at the dining table in a normal chair, and has more or less outgrown the pram/pushchair now ready for DS2.

mrsflux · 08/06/2010 20:29

Well the ttc might take a while- I have pcos but conceived ds in 3-4 months so don't know how long dc2 might take to arrive.
Think if I can manage ds on my own, and work and no sleep and still want dc2 then it's time
