DD won't eat.

DD has is 9 months. We started weaning but my hv said take it slow she took over a month before she was interested in the food we tried her everyday but she just would not have it. At 8 months she was on two meals and eating about half a small jar at each sitting (this is a guess because I make my own).

People were pushing saying she should be on 3 meals but she didn't seem ready to me but I gave in and since adding the third meal she refuses all solid food. She is still bf on demand and with two meals was down to 8-10 5minute feeds, She has now started having a feed every hour day or night. I put her in her chair offer solids she screams and when I take her out asks for milk.

What do I do? Do I continue to offer 3 meals or drop back to two.

drop back to two

if it ain't broke, don't fix it

More nutrition in bm - give her some finger food and let her play with it, chances are she'll eat a bit too. Have a look at the baby led weaning threads.

If you feel that she is more suited to two meals, drop back to two.

Is she gaining weight? Is she healthy? Is she bright and alert? If the answer to those is yes, then don't worry too much about it, and do what suits you both. If she's not gaining weight or seems lethargic or ill, have a chat with the health visitor and see what she recommends.

She is your child and you will know what suits her - ignore pushy people and do what is best for the two of you.

She has stayed on the 91st centille since birth so definitely happy and healthy. Thanks ladies I was just finding people hard when they gasp in horror and say a child that big needs more than two meals. I will drop back to two hopefully she will pick up eating again thanks ladies.

I usually give finger food before she has a meal as most goes on the floor .

I would back off as far as you need to to get her enjoying her food again. If that means going back to one meal a day or only giving finger food so be it.

If you are consistently offering food that she doesn't want she's going to end up with food issues and you'll spend your whole life looking for ways to persuade her to eat.

Don't worry about what other people think - just do what you feel is right to keep food and mealtimes positive for you and your daughter.

Thanks Al1son sometimes I wish people would keep their bloody noses out they don't help only cause more problems. Today I dropped her back and she eat one meal at her normal amount and had some banana finger food but was not keen on her second meal so I think it was definitely the right call.
