Hardest day so far

My dd is nearly 5 weeks old and today has def been the hardest so far. She has cried pretty much all day, only stopping when I pick her up. She refuses to sleep anywhere but on me! Please tell me that this is just temporary otherwise I'll be housebound! Is it a growth spurt she's going through? Any advice/tips? X

They do tend to have a growth spurt at about 6 weeks. Your DD must be very forward

Do you have a sling? I found that really helped. Baby felt cuddled, I had hands free to get on with stuff.
It will get better.
Or you could just sit and cuddle with baby... nice excuse to rest!

It is tough but just go with it.

Have your husband shop for easy to eat food and get yourself settled on the sofa for baby cuddling and snacking.

It will get easier! Honestly! Only have a little experience as ds is just 19wks old but its been a long while since we had a day like that.....

I know its easy for others to say but if you can try and enjoy the days when you LO only wants to be cuddled by you, then do, ds never wants to fall asleep on me anymore and I miss it loads..... (tho know its a pain in the bum sometimes too when you actually want to get stuff done!!)

Hope you have a better day tomorrow xx

Hi Koogers, thought it might make you feel better if you knew that I was having a bad day too!

DD is 6 weeks and 3 days and I'm pretty sure this must be the growth spurt - I am chained to the sofa feeding at the mo and she is throwing herself off my boob and screaming about every 10 mins!!

Also had no sleep last night which doesn't help!

So, no advice but I feel your pain!

Get a sling! It's totally normal for tiny babies to not want to be put down - if you think about it its a survival instinct. Using a sling means you can do stuff, and your baby is happy too. Result. I carried DD around loads when she was tiny, and still do sometimes now if she's really overtired and won't nap. Works a dream.

Thanks guys! And passionberry-it does make me feel better that there are others going through it, fingers crossed it will pass!!
