Rashy legs with real nappies - what can I do?

I'm re-using some old fluffles on DS2 and just recently, I'm finding that they're causing really horrible red rashes around his upper legs, particularly overnight.

At first I thought it was the wrap chafing and I threw away all our old wraps and bought new, but on closer inspection, it looks like it's the edge of the fluffles rubbing his legs.

What could be causing this and is there anything I can do? This was never a problem with DS1 so I am not sure if it's to do with the age of the nappies or a build up of washing deposits - any ideas?

We use ecover liquid in case that's in any way relevant!

Could be to do with build up, Are the nappies too tight or loose? Do they feel ok, not gone rough or anything? I have some old fluffles from DD1 i use on DD2 and ive never had that problem

Thanks for replying.

They are nipper ones, so I've experimented with various settings of loose and tight - and nothing really seems to help.

The nappies don't feel rough - at least not to me - but I did wonder about build up.

I've never stripped them or whatever the word is - do you think I should try that?

I have DD1 and DD2 in fluffles and never had any problems, but maybe some babies are more sensitive to the synthetic material, especially in the hot weather, and might be better in cotton nappies.

I would try stripping them first though - I think I remember reading somewhere that using liquid detergent is more likely to cause build up than powders.

ok - I'll try stripping!

Any ideas how to go about it? I have read various confusing things to do with bio liquid and vinegar?

Try giving them a full hot wash with no detergent and an extra rinse, this should get any soap build up out.

brilliant - thanks
