Hi there,

we're getting a friend's girlfriend to babysit our little fella on Thurs night.

He's 1, will be in bed and won't wake (well, he never does) and we'll be gone for about 4 hours at the most.

What would you pay her?

TIA for your replies.

How old is she?

I would go for £5 an hour

We have a young girl who is 16, we pay her £15 for 7 - 11.30pm, plus pay for her taxi home if we can't drive her (about another £7).

I average around £5 per hour for my young cousin watching my two (3.5 and 18mo)

I guess it really depends on where you live. In London, I pay £30. for 7.30-11.30 (I can be late if I need to be). I use a registered childminder who has a CRB, and is trained in paed. CPR and has knowlegde of ezcema and athsma (for my son) and works a dayjob as a childminder and does this in the evening for extra cash. I found her on Mumsnet and that seemed to be the local going rate.
Maybe I'm just over cautious but my 1-yr old can be a handful if his ezcema wakes him up and if his athsma doesn't wake him up!

Thanks guys, I think she's 25 and has done childminding before however it's not a career for her and is a graduate in business.

I think I'll offer her #8 per hour and round it up to the hour.

Thanks again.
