Washing bamboo nappies

Can any-one advise me re how many bamboo nappies I can safely put in the washing machine without breaking it!!! Obviously I want to be as economical as possible but aware that they absorb much water & are therefore heavy when wet through.

What is the cotton max weight for your machine? Maybe reduce that by 25%?

I'd have thought loads, i.e. just fill the machine as you normally would. Thinking about it, the machine fills with water to a certain level, and water will weigh pretty much the same as wee, so by adding wee-soaked nappies you're just displacing some of the water which would have been added anyway.

Don't worry about it as long as you're not forcing them in and there's a gap at the top of the pile. Your machine will have a weight rating, eg 7 kilos, and that's a helluva lot of nappies as they're so fluffy and not bulky compared to clothes.

You will tell if you're over filling the machine as it will make funny noises on the spin, and they won't wash properly. The main thing is to ensure there's enough room for them to tumble and get clean.
