Click clack track - waste of money?

I was thinking of buying a click clack track for DD2 who is nearly 1. I notice there are loads on Ebay in 'as new' condition. Do they get played with? Any other ideas for a first birthday?

my two DCs have had endless fun with the click clack track, in fact it's one of the few things that refuse to let me sell or give away. However, i think maybe age 1 is too young personally. I would save your money and buy something much smaller like a pack of balloons! Make the most of the fact that at this age she doesn't really need/want much at all. It will change swiftly enough

Great fun for about an hour. Try and find one on ebay that you can collect locally, and don't worry about the condition cos your child won't care.

My best 1st-birthday buy was a ride-on Thomas - here. Played with endlessly by all three children. When my nieces visit they both make a bee-line for it too (they're 18mo and 3yr).

Aah that's the problem with this question, one child's endless-joy is another's mouldering-on-the-shelf.

Ooh yes, a value box of tissues, and let her pull them all out. That's a favourite too ...

My DS and my mindees (when I used to childmind) loved this toy, age ranges that played with it were DS then 3, two 22 month olds, and a 10 year old.

I got one cheap though from a carboot (elc electric all music and lights type), then a wooden one painted primary colours from Homebargains, I try my best not to pay full price for things then it's not so upsetting if they don't get used.

Kitchen roll tube and small toy car have similar fun effects....

They are fab. I love it. good as turn taking toy with toddlers, good for mindless enjoyment of the noise , good hand eye co-ordination practise.A one yr old might not do much with right now, but will grow into it. Ours is still played with , boy is 4 and would be very cross if I told him it had to go.

They don't seem to get knackered very quickly so e-bay ones in good nick could be a few years old. Ours was 2nd hand and very good play value for money.

thanks all. Good suggestions. I think I will wait for Christmas to give DD2 the click clack track when she's 18 months and will appreciate it more. Value box of tissues is a good call for a toy! She's always taking the wipes out of the packet and it's very annoying - perfect solution! Think I will stick to books for her birthday as she really loves them. and maybe a second hand rocker or ride on or something.
