Growth problems due to bulky nappies?? Paranoia?

I'm using Bum Genius V3's for DS and have been since 9 weeks (8lb ish). Really like them but at night I have to put an extra pad in and am a bit worried they are too bulky between his legs... irrational paranoia probably but could this affect his development and possibly make him bow legged?

do not worry! if bulky nappies made people bow-legged then i think the majority of us would be!
remember that until about 30 years ago cloth nappies were the norm.

children with hip problems are sometimes put in casts... that hold the legs apart! it's a normal position for a baby to assume so really no need to worry.
if you pick a little baby up they naturally draw each leg up to the side (so they look like a little frog)

Aw thanks, good point, thought I was probably being silly but just wanted reassuring!

Cloth is actually supposed to be GOOD for the hip joint, as it supports the joint in a more frog like position, which holds the ball of the leg in the socket better and allows the muscles and tendons to develop well around it - hence they're recommended for babies with clicky hips.

(Note for future generations: will be interesting to note if there will be any correlation between hip replacements and type of nappy used when they were a baby in years to come! I suspect a cloth clad baby will have a better muscular development around the joint as it is growing, would this lead to less wear and tear on the joint overall?)

They also are good for newly walking babies, as the air inside them cushions their fall much better than a dry disposable does.

(As previous poster says: are your grandparents and parents bow legged?)
