Our DD is 4 and at the end of last term caught a horrible stomach bug - norovirus or similar - that involved projectile vomiting at the beginning and then dreadful diarrhoea for WEEKS, literally nearly three weeks.
We went to the doc and to A&E and they told us it was going round at the moment etc.
Since then her tummy has been up and down - she either has constipation or a runny tummy - and keeps being sent home from nursery for one or the other. When she has constipation it's so bad she cries (she is speech delayed so can't talk).
I've been to the GP terrified it was Crohn's Disease and she was non-committal and gave us lactulose and suggested an acidophilus supplement, which we have just started on and seems to be working, but obviously we don't want to be like this forever. She says give it a month with the two medicines and see how we get on, and if it's still a problem she will refer us to a paed gastroenterologist. But she says it could just be her tummy getting back to normal.
Has anyone had anything similar? We have had loads of health probs with DD and the thought of this being something serious makes me feel so despairing.
Thanks
