Where can I get a baby boy doll for 18 month old?

Hey all - my DD is 18 months and has a wee brother arriving in June. I want to buy her a boy baby doll to play with and 'look after' as I care for her brother. She is starting to show interest in dolls at playgroup but I am struggling to buy one. Loads I see are for 3+ or are so hard and unwieldy she would struggle with it.

Preferably a softish type, or at least partly soft, which is fairly life like in features.

I'm hoping she will find it useful in the transition......

Anyone got ideas? I have tried ELC, Mothercare, Asda, ToysRus etc....

Can't you just get any soft doll and put a blue babygro on it? They don't tend to be anomatically correct! If you buy a premature sized babygro it will fit a small doll.

I wouldn't worry too much about the 3+ recommendation, because it's a legal thing - toys which say 3+ aren't necessarily unsuitable for younger children, it just means they haven't been tested to make sure no small parts can break off or be swallowed. It's really unlikely this would happen anyway if you choose the toy carefully, especially if you supervise her with it.

I got a soft bodied one in Tesco

Thanks - I just have visions of her wanting to 'share' the doll with the new brother and him getting clunked on the head with a hard plastic baby on a regular basis!

Will try Tescos online now ... the blue babygro is a good plan, all the dolls I keep finding are really girly girl dolls.

Myriad have lost of soft first dolls. Some are really expensive but if you scroll down there are some more reasonable ones.

You could probably get similar for cheaper elsewhere if yuo look about. They are lovely though.

If you are wanting a pushchair for the doll BTW, go to Asda. Half the price of the ELC ones They only had pink dolls though and not ones with removeable clothes.

Thanks all - a baby boy doll and blue stroller en route from elc now. DD will be so excited :-)

Now to hope the sonographer got the gender right .... or we have some serious explaining to do about her new baby brother!
