DS won't stop crying in stroller... Help!

Can anyone give me some advice with my DS who is 5mths.
We've bought a baby jogger stroller for use while on holiday as our usual travel system pram/pushchair is too big and bulky to take away.

Anyway, the problem is keeping him from crying and screaming whilst in it. He won't sit still or keep quiet especially in public where it's annoying and embarrasing. Even heard comments behind my back about the shame of leaving him crying.

He's fine in the usual pram and maybe it's coz he can't see me or coz it's new and different, but he usually loves watching and looking around.

He's not hungry, tired or dirty. Toys and dummies don't work either. If I or someone picks him up he stops straight away, then as soon as he goes back in, it's not long before he starts up again. In his pram, he settles to sleep if tired but not in the stroller.

I need advice on how to settle him or 'train' him to get used to it. I can't carry him all day when out walking and I don't want him to rely on me that way.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Is there a supermum or supernanny out there who can give me advice

Sell the jogger and buy a lightweight rear facing pushchair.
Streety
Loola [heavier]
Britax vigour
Etc

Or just put up with it on holiday and hope he settles a bit more and then get him back into your usual pram as soon as you get back.

Tiny love mobile, clipped to the top of the pram, worked wonders for DS1 who hated his pram. Seems to hypnotise little ones.

Or give up on the buggy for holiday and use a sling or baby carrier

it's probably uncomfy for him, esp. if designed for bigger children. I second dinkystinky's suggestion of a sling or carrier.

[hijack: hello dinkystinky, haven't bumped into you on MN for ages, how are you? I hope you are flourishing!]
