Drapolene and washables???

I have heard that Sudocrem will ruin washable nappies unless you use a disposable liner, so I'm armed with my Sudocrem and liners BUT I then remembered that my mum used to use Drapolene on me as a baby (I can still remember the smell!!!!) and I see it still exists - she used terry nappies and didn't ever have disposable liners (if they existed way back when....) so does anyone know if it's okay to use Drapolene next to a washable nappy without a liner?

.. using washables and sudocrem here, wasn't aware of any problem tbh! How old is your baby?

Baby not even born yet!!! I'm just getting prepared, I'm due in 4 weeks. I had heard that using sudocrem or any other barrier-type nappy rash cream would affect the absorbency of reusables, but is that not true???

if you use oit regularly then yes, it can leave a waterproof residue on the nappies and make them less absorbant.

i've never had a problem with any of mine, but i only ever use cream if they have sore bottoms, which thankfully has been rare!

I have to admit that I've never noticed a problem with either the nappies becoming waterproofed or frequent need for using cream anyway.

One thing I didn't realise for a while is that you can use bold 2 in 1 even tho it contains a softener it doesn't affect the absorbancy. ( apparantly the softener in bold is made from clay, never would have guessed it myself! but it really is ok to use and if you use the lavendar one you get a waft of lavendar every time they tinkle ) If you ask on the lastest cloth thread the ladies on there seem to know everything!

Good luck with your baby, hope you have a lovely birth
