My childminder has quit

Great. She needs to focus on her own son. My ds is 8mo and has been there for 2 months. All the other CM is area are full. Only option is nursery. and it isn't a great nursery.

Feck, when am I supposed to sort this out? I have already had so much time off with ds being ill, me being ill.
And I really don't want to put him in nursery. I think he's too young. And I read that guardian article about nursery and cortisol levels. Bugger.

You look after him until you can sort out at home care? I mean, check out how much you are earning and how much it will cost to get a decent nursery or nanny and then see if it is financially viable.

Has she given you notice?

Have you phoned around all the cm in the area, ask them to put you on a waiting list you never know when a place is going to come up, They may think they are full then kids can stop coming for all reasons some times without much notice.
Also I know it sounds a long time away but you may find some cm will have vacancies in Sept when the 4 year olds start full time school, it might be worth checking that out and maybe you will have to put up with the nursery for a few months.

I'm going to ring CM in area, also search a wider area hopefully will be some with places.

I am just so upset, and so is CM as she loved ds and he loved her.

It is just hard trying to do this and work fulltime. I am a teacher, so can't book holiday to do this.

I would love to give up work and look after him, but I earn £1800 a month, and the childminder costs £430 a month, so that is a big loss.
