What cloth nappy for 17mo?

I've used prefolds with a nappi nippa since my DS was born, first the collection service for a few months then I bought the kit second hand when he moved up into the larger size. I do use a disposable at night (I started this in a vain attempt to get him to sleep through the night...ha.. he only did this at 12 mo when he came off the boob...) and my CM uses disposables for him 3 days a week.

Anyway... he can be quite a heavy wetter and the prefolds aren't doing it for me anymore and I find I keep popping him in a disposable. Although he's not a big chap they are quite a tight fit on him using the Angel Wings fold I've always done and I'm fed up of changing him out of wet clothes.

I'm don't want to start trying out lots of different nappies (I can't afford to for one thing) but am prepared to shell out on some different nappies that can cope with the wet and are easy to use and dry (no tumble dryer) and that will do at night as I'd like to cut down on disposable use at home. Advice anyone??

I like coolababys, dry really quick. if you get a second insert and fold it and put it at the front it should cope with the wetness

don't cost much to try, about £6 each I think

I'd reccomend Fuzzi Bunz. I have used them for both my ds's. You can stuff them with the prefolds. For some reason I found them much better at stopping leaks than a prefold and wrap.

How about a Motherease Sandy's? These were bomb-proof in my experience. At 17m.o. I expect he'd fit a toddle-ease size, these should see him through to potty training.

And just thinking... you may be able to use them with your existing wraps, so less expense there.

Oh, and just to add, I've used all fabric types of these Sandy's (Organic cotton, bamboo, and regular unbleached cotton with polyester), I found the regular unbleached cotton to be the best by far, and cheapest. Organic cotton is too bulky and gets very crispy in our hard water area, bamboo was no better than unbleached and took longer to dry. The small polyester content of the regular unbleached gave the nappies a better feel, and seems to keep them a bit softer in hard water.
