16 month old gets really frustrated

Hello

DD is 1 and 4months, and when she can't do something (like get the lid off something, pull a toy out of the toy box etc) she gets really frustrated really quickly. At the moment I try to help her do whatever it is rather than just doing it for her, but is there a way to make her calm down and try for herself a bit longer? If I just leave her to it she tends to give up all together and have a bit of a tantrum. Is this a personality thing or have other people found a miraculous way to encourage tenacity?!

Thanks in advance

It's just her age and she will learn to persevere longer or at least control her temper a bit in due course! My DS2 is the same age and we have just the same issue at the moment...constant pushchair rage as he can't push his little wheels past an obstacle like the dining room table There isn't much you can do IME except help her to keep calm as much as you can. At this age I would do things for her once she is getting cross, because she is not in control of her emotions yet - when she is ready for you to let her go longer you will know as she will get cross when you try

Yes it's normal, DD is same age and has perfected a high pitched squeal of rage. It will pass...

Thanks, both. I'll just go with it for now then!
