Why am I doing this course? I really don't have a clue

I can't do the work
I have no motivation
I don't have time
I don't understand it
It won't improve my like or wages
It won't enable a better job

It is pointless

Why did you enrol? Something about it must have intrigued you.

Find your tutor and get help/ advice.

Katymac · 09/05/2010 12:41

I think I am just panicking

I am good at that

But it really is hard

No - I am back wondering what I am playing at again

What is the course and what level?

I recently started a Masters at work as it would help a little with promotional prospects but more because it would be nice to have another graduation for the kids to see and for my parents... really it was to make my mum proud as she was dying and was an academic lover like me and would have loved another graduation ceremony.

Since she died a few weeks ago I dropped out as my reason for doing it had really gone.

All you need to do is decide why YOU wanted to do it in the first place and if that reason is still there work through everything else. I am going to do another masters but not just the first one offered but something I want to study for the sake of study despite it not having any direct prospects afterwards.

Aw MNHubbie, that's sad - poor you

I need a degree but I chose a complicated one - instead of cheating & doing what I already know

I'm doing my first level 2 at OU - 214 understanding systems & making sense of complexity

& bugger is it complex

But my life kind of changed a few weeks into the course when DD stopped seeing - I seem to be chasing my tail trying to get work done

OP posts:
Jaybird37 · 09/05/2010 20:08

Katymac - DD stopped seeing - do you mean she has lost her vision?

Katymac · 09/05/2010 20:09

Yes - temporarily (10 weeks now) - probably psychologically - seeing CAMHS weekly

I'm knackered

She sees like "like looking through the bathroom window (textured glass) she can see shapes and light & dark but still no colour, she can also see movement." she says

That is very scary and would knock anyone for six!

I'd be inclined to ask for some time/understanding from the Uni to be honest.

If you need the degree why would it be cheating to do what you know? Ahh... but if I say any more there I'll make you doubt what you're doing even more, lol.

Take the time with DD and let the course be an escape for you if you can and I'm sure they'll understand as long as you keep them informed.

(and thank you BTW)

Katymac · 09/05/2010 20:48

We have to work on a big bit of work as a group in August - so I can't get behind

TBH I am close to giving up - it's only the money it cost that keeps me going on tbh

OP posts:
MNHubbie · 09/05/2010 20:59

Ug.

Can you break it down into smaller pieces to help yourself? I would contact the uni though tomorrow and explain what is happening as they will almost certainly have contingencies for exceptional circumstances.

Katymac · 09/05/2010 21:04

Ug - what a lovely word I do agree with it

The nice tutor has said to take as long as I need because it is 'exceptional circumstances'

But I need a kick-start my dad is out of his depth & DH doesn't even understand why education is important

I will get there - some people are reading it tonight (I hope)

OP posts:
MNHubbie · 09/05/2010 21:26

That must be tough without DH's support and I hope that he mans up and comes to understand. It is good that the tutor is understanding.

Katymac · 09/05/2010 21:41

He's OK - he gives me time to do it but he just doesn't understand any of it

Thanks - I have put out a request for a proof-read again - to try & get me sorted

OP posts:
MNHubbie · 09/05/2010 22:24

Doesn't understand what you are doing (fair enough) or why (not good if I'm allowed to be slightly judgemental)?

Good luck with the proof read.

MNHubbie · 09/05/2010 22:38

I thought you were asking for a proof read from folks on the course not on here but my DW (MrsGokWan) says you posted on here. I'm happy to have a look but can't promise to understand it all.

Jaybird37 · 10/05/2010 00:53

I hope your daughter is OK. If it gets too much ask for a deferral.

Know nothing of your subject but happy to proof read for comprehensibility/ spelling/ grammar.

Katymac · 10/05/2010 07:28

I'd really appreciate any help at all - I am struggling so much I asked here

How do I contact either/both of you

Oddly enough I get marks for spelling/grammar etc which I thought odd

OP posts:
Jaybird37 · 10/05/2010 07:56

I think you can contact me through Mumsnet CAT.

Katymac · 10/05/2010 10:01

Have done - Thanks

MNHubbie · 10/05/2010 20:46

Use the email address DW has set up for this sort of thing (in case spammers read it on here) and I'll get in touch back.
