Would mums/dads kindly fill in a survey for my child psychology course?

Hello all,I was hoping if mums/dads could use some of thier precious time to help me by filling in a survey I am required to carry out for my child psychology course?
Here goes:
Talk to as many different mothers/fathers of two or more young children as possible. Ask them whether they noticed differences between their children during their first few days of life.
What kind of differences did they notice?

Have these differences remained?

Thank you!

Different sleeping patterns. Ds1 cried alot more and wanted held all the time. Ds2 alot more content and not so demanding.

Have the differences remained? They are 10 &8 now. Very different personalities. Ds1 more sensitive and ds2 very chilled and laid back.

Hope this helps you.

DD was very sleepy, had to be persuaded to feed..she smiled in response to my smile before one week old. she is very outgoing as a toddler

DS was very hungry, and could put his thumb in his mouth already - he either sucked boob or thumb even in his sleep during the first few days. He still chews his hands before/during sleep.

DS was very sleepy/chilled out as newborn. He is 16mo now and very physically 'busy', climbing etc, but relatively shy/clingy.

DD was a miserable baby TBH, cried a lot, didn't sleep. She is very sociable, loves a singsong/dance, right chatterbox and stubborn

Ds1 - placcid, ds2 - feisty. And yes, they are now 7 and 4 and are still like that.

pippop1 · 08/05/2010 14:48

DS1 - v lively and wriggly, never settled down to a feed like in the books but messed about, stopped, started, not relaxed. DS2 - fed more efficiently, pensive, looked around absorbing the world quietly, listened carefully to anyone that spoke to him, relaxed, chilled baby.

They are the same now!

Joolyjoolyjoo · 08/05/2010 14:52

dd1- very demanding, restless, didn't seem to sleep
dd2- much more laid back and content

Yes, the differences have remained! dd1 now 6, wants more attention, doesn't go to sleep so readily. dd2 (4) happy to amuse herself, falls asleep straight away

First few days with DS I was in hospital mostly on my own (c-section) but with DD we were at home/out and about (VBAC and out of hospital within a few hours) so it's hard to say what was down to them and what was down to the environment. DS certainly cried more and more persistently than DD and I'd say that had continued; he has much stronger emotional reactions to things and seems to be on a hair trigger a lot of the time.

Thank you all very much for all your lovely help!

My first was sleepy, and quiet.

My second was not as sleepy and more alert.

They are still like that. DS (1) is hard of hearing and can be quite strange.

DD (2) is much more of a "normal" baby, she is grabby and stare-y and smiley.

We end up comparing our kids and then start worrying about DS.
