Disposables for skinny waisted 3 week old - help please

I've started (the last day or two) to find that when my 3 1/2 week old son wakes for a feed his moses basket sheet (and clothes) are wet. He has been in Tesco's size 1's and I have just tried him in a size 2 but it's really big around the waist and I'm not sure it will stay stuck down reliably (he's long and skinny). Does anyone know another brand (preferably sold by Tesco's or Boots - or Asda at a pinch) that might fit better? Also is the size the problem - the actual nappy hasn't been wet which I thought was a bit odd, I also wasn't expecting him to need to move sizes this soon (he's my first - I may just be clueless).

Any advice before I go shopping tomorrow very welcome!

Thanks

are you making sure his willy is pointing down in the nappy? if its pointing up, then he could well be peeing over the waistband.

idont have boys, but remember being told this when changing a little boys nappy.

Yes, make sure and point Percy South!

They can pee sort of 'out of the side' of the nappy, where there is no absorbancy at the side. Mine did it frequently - and we switched to cloth nappies as I couldn't find a disposable capable of containing him overnight.

make sure you're doing it up tight enough, he's not as fragile as he looks.

Also make sure his penis is pointing down between his legs or he'll pee right up the gap.

Definitely pointing penis more or less downwards, that's not the problem - out of the side might be, not sure what to do about that. Trying to do it up tight, it's just that the tabs on the new nappies don't seem very sticky when overlapped so much they are sticking to each other (it's hard to explain).
