DS is 10 months and DH & I would like to switch to cloth nappies, but have no idea where to start from as we know nothing about them
Which brand? How many? Where to buy?
Help please

I use a mixture of different brands, because I was unsure which to buy when I started,
personally I really like the Motherease nappies and wraps, (some of which I got from the county council for cheap as they were promoting washable nappies)

I like them because I have been using all my nappies for nearly three years and they are on my second child now,
and the Motherease ones still look practically new, and have fitted from start to finish, and because they use poppers my DS's have never been able to pull these ones off. (which as they get older they do try and do on a regular basis)

whereas I have also got some TotsBots nappies which have gone rather thin and TotBots wraps which have gone very yellow.

The Bambinex ones I have do not do up any more as the velcro/applix has stopped sticking.

I have long thrown away some from Little lambs as they lost all their shape and velcro stickiness very quickly.

I have approx 20 nappies and 4 wraps and wash them every few days

Mostly I have bought them online as this has worked out cheaper than in the shops

At ten months with good solid poos id hand on heart say pockets all the way - a meduim could see you through to potty trg on a small built boy if you go sized , failing that a good onesize could serve you well.

My personal favourites are Motherease wraps and birth-to-potty nappies, but my advice to you would be to buy some cheaply on the for sale board here and see what suits you. For example, this way I realised I don't like nippas; I can't use pockets as DD is too slim and if I pad them enough to not be really annoying she walks like John Wayne; we do like a kind of nappy that no one else I know can use (because DD is so slim).

So I'd recommend a few Motherease wraps and nappies to get you started and a few others to see if you like them.

Everything I've had off here has been great and you can sometimes spend very little.

Wow! There's lots to learn! Pods, wraps

Thanks for your suggestions!

I'll take a look at Motherease. My son is tall, but a bit slim.

I didn't like motherease wraps although I think im in the minority. I like little lambs, ittis and weenotions. I could talk about cloth nappies all day but there are a squillion different nappies out there.
For a 10 month old you can pretty much choose any tpe but here is a brief explanation.

Fitted nappy; the nappy is the absorbent bit then you need a wrap over the top can be plastic fleece or wool. MY FAVES little lambs and dunk and fluff

Pocket nappy, only as good as what you stuff it with as the insert is the absorbent bit MY FAVES bumgenious and weenotions, Best insert for us is petits dessous insert.

All in one nappy, for me the only one i like is itti bitti the outer shell can be reused and inserts snap into it to complete the nappy.

For overnight, at 10 months I would definatley recommend a night nappy if you want to last all night MY FAVES are puddlekins although they are not cheap! people rave about weenotions night nappies.
