If you are a sling wearer- where/how do you carry all the baby gubbins?

I would love to wear my ds more, but honestly I find the pushchair so much handier for carrying changing bag.

If you go out along how do you carry all the stuff?

I don't huge amounts, but nappies, wipes, wet bag, food etc still takes up space!

depends on the sling, i keep my fabric in change bag any way when using pram.

but when out nearly always a ruckie - there is room in fabric sling to chuk a muslin in with baby.

in her baby carrier i keep a flannel in my pocket for dribble.posset emergencies and also have a back pack.

nappy and small sandwich bag of wetwipes in the handbag/shoulder bag, along with a sleepsuit. A toy attached to the sling with a popper tag thing.

Or.

DH carries the bag.

With DD, I took a bag with me anyway, a shoulder bag or a ruckshack. With DS (no.2) the bare minimum.

I used a courier type bag with softer straps, or an Onbag.
A long strapped bag you can put over one shoulder is easier as if you have them on the back or the front you can still use it, found that an issue witha rucksack as I preferred to wear DD on myback.

jack - how old was dd before you went on back?

with my ds was told 9 mnths but i see people with real weany ones doing it and am wondering when to try with dd she has always preferred front kanga and stuff and think she'll like it.

JackBauerIsZonerrific · 04/05/2010 23:06

I did put her on my back from about 6 months, and DD2, it does depend on the carrier though, I was doing it in a high back carry with a mei tai or wrap but definately NOT a stretchy wrap.

honeydragon · 04/05/2010 23:10

gotcha - they're the ones i've seen the littlies in. might get the mei tai then.

I always just carried a normal changing bag across my body, with the strap between DS' head and my chest. Still do this now he is 19 months and on my back.

I don't tend to carry loads of stuff though, just the bare minimum.

DS has just turned 1 and I have an Ergo, which I usually wear on my front (though I'm going to start wearing it on my back soon as DS weighs a ton!!). I usually put everything in a rucksack and I actually find carrying him easier when I've got the rucksack on because it seems to balance the weight out!

Will probably just use a shoulder bag once I get the hang of putting him on my back on my own (without hanging over the bed in case I drop DS...)

I think for some slings (like the Ergo) you can buy attachments e.g.extra pockets etc. but I haven't bothered because they all seem to cost an arm and a leg .
