Poo - how many times per day?

My DD is 2.5. Since toddlerhood she has been a once a day poo-er. Regular as clockwork. Since April 10th she has turned into a 3 or 4 a day poo-er and they are quite runny and mucus-ey with lots of bits (like blueberry poo but I haven't given blueberries).

Anyone know what is happening?

I thought it might be her love of branflakes and oat/barley granola for breakfast (she copies her dad's breakfast). I've cut down on this but the multiple poos continue.

She is still in nappies so its really, very annoying!

Advice gratefully received.

We had three or four pooes a morning with DS. Cutting his cereal - branflakes - intake and fruit and veg intake worked, so we were down to one or two a morning, which was more manageable.

Hi My DS2 (now 4.5yrs) started having around 5 or 6 windy poos a day a bit like you describe when he was 3 and a bit. But he was also under weight. We had lots of tests done and eventaully saw a dietician. She suggested cutting his fruit intake down and removing a lot of fibre from his diet. She advised white bread, pasta and rice, not wholemeal ( I am afraid I ignored her on the bread front) and she also said he was eating far too much fruit and that 4 and unders should aim for 4 portions of fruit and veg a day MAX... I have tried and it has helped a bit but she thinks his might also be a gluten thing (weight is a concern). But her general advice might help you here- I guess bran flakes are much to high in fibre for a 2.5 year old? Her advice shocked me actually you get the fruit and veg thing rammed down your throat so much but I was actually giving him too much!!

Thanks for the posts and advice.

DD does eat an awful lot of fruit and veg, prefers brown bread, eats branflakes and wheatabix etc. I was so pleased that she loves broccoli - never thought it could be a problem. I'm not that healthy myself! She has chosen these foods. I'm a white toast and marmalade kinda gal if I'm honest...

Will attempt to provide lots of stodge and cut down on the smoothies etc.

Thanks again.
