Any tips on what to do with a toddler on a crappy rainy day?

I did biscuit decorating yesterday. It lasted all of about 2.5 minutes which making the biscuits took over a bloody hour!

I don't know, but I now have a grumpy 9 year old who was really looking forward to the first outdoor cricket training session of the year, which has been rained off!

thesouthsbelle · 02/05/2010 09:45

ooh we might make biscuits today actually. am currently sat in bed thou as I over did the gardening y'day. might go out for dinner again if I can be assed to get dressed.

We have just made pancakes for breakfast, gong to have a huge tidy up and clean while they play in their rooms (will be upstairs with them) and then a DVD and popcorn this afternoon.

sun shining here today but after yesterday pissing down ALL day thank feck is all I'm saying

we did the whole pyjama/movie day yesterday as well as jigsaws/colouring etc

not very inspiring, sorry!!

MummyDoIt · 02/05/2010 09:51

They are playing with Lego at the moment. We're off to the cinema to see Nanny McPhee later then maybe some craft kits when we get home (got so many for Christmas that we have a stack of them unopened, ready for a miserable day like this!).

DD is 2.9. DH and I are fed up with 'being' Diego or Freddy Teddy (I hate toddler games!). We are both very tired, me because I am pg, and DH because he has spent the last 2 nights getting up twice to DD who is still not settled a week after giving up her dummies.

Any other tips for low maintenance activities?

DD is currently watching Something Special. I feel really crappy today - I have a bad cold. So I am lying on the sofa cuddling a box of tissues.

I have taken the lids off all DDs pens and taped a really long piece of lining paper to the floor so she can draw as much as she wants. DH is in Germany (for the next month), so I am the only person DD has to play with and I am not much good at the moment. However I am sure she will survive a day of benign neglect.

TrinityMeemaRhino · 02/05/2010 09:57

well its really sunny here

LadyOfTheFlowers · 02/05/2010 09:58

Eldest 2 watching A-Team with DH, tiddler running about with a chocolate digestive and screaming.

(The carnage I get up to when I stay in bed to feed baby... )

Swimming is usually quiet on a Sunday morning.

But at the moment DS is running around with no pants on watching Thomas the Tank Engine.

Tortoise · 02/05/2010 09:59

Mine are all playing together upstairs. I'm Just waiting for the first argument!! It is great when they are all old enough to entertain themselves.

thehillsarealive · 02/05/2010 10:00

well we were supposed to be going out for a long walk, with kids and dogs, having lunch with friends and walking home again.

The thought of the lovely pub lunch was keeping me going, but it is rained off. It will be too muddy.

no idea what we are doing today, maybe PJ day and tv, or swimming later this afternoon.

Highlander · 02/05/2010 10:06

toiklet training DS2. I fear I may go mad asking him, 'do you want to go for a pee or a poo?' every 10 mins.............

FiveGoMadInDorset · 02/05/2010 10:07

The sun is shining here. Just about to take DD for a riding lesson. There are though black clouds looming to the NOrth of us but seem to be missing us at the moment.

ProfYaffle · 02/05/2010 10:15

We're going for the raincoats/wellies/do it anyway option this afternoon. After this morning's felt pen incident

Bumperliouzzzzzz · 02/05/2010 10:19

Oh fuck of you lot with your sun shining !

Swimming gets really busy here on a Sunday morning for some reason.

OK, I'm going to get DD's teepee out and hope that will keep her quite for - ooh - all of 10 minutes!

i rarely get the chance to slob about on sundays so am really making the most of it today

mamasunshine · 02/05/2010 10:48

Visit grandparents/friends, go to a soft play centre (depending on age!) Swimming, watch a film at cinema/home? Put them into wellies and let them play in the garden?

BooKangerooWonders · 02/05/2010 10:49

dh taking big ones swimming, me and little dc are cooking lunch for the ravenous ones to return!

Movie and popcorn this pm I reckon.

compo · 02/05/2010 12:16

Dh came back fromswimming after twenty minutes because he'd forgotten dds costume
he'd paid for parking and swimming so they've all gone back
good for me cos it us eating up a chunk of the day
