Is a sun tan OK for DC's?

So far DD1 (4) and DD2 (2.7) have been covered in sun cream, sun hats etc. pretty much as soon as a ray of sun was to be seen.

I think that at the age they are now it might be healthy for them to get some sun (vitamin D and more?), and that a bit of colour is OK as long as they don't get burned.

Am I mistaken or can I relax a bit with the sun cream?

you can't relax with the suncream even for an adult

children have more delicate skin than grown ups so i would slap on the factor 30 and keep them covered

some sun is good for the vitamin D but i wouldn't be aiming for a suntan

I am in Australia and government/medical advice is no, there is no safe level of tanning at all.

I think you actually need quite little sun to get your vitamin D - just incidental exposure on hands and face is generally enough, I believe.

Don't relax with the suncream - they will still get a tan.

I always use factor 30+ and always get a long-lasting tan, despite being fair-skinned.

OK, thanks. I'll keep slathering on the sun cream and keep the translucent white/bluish colour
