What is your daily routine with baby?

Hi,

I have a 3 month old baby and really would wonder what is the daily routine of other mothers who are at home on maternity leave.

Thanks for sharing.

get up at about 6:15am, as I also have dd aged 3. If DS (5 months) has been up lots and DH is home, i will stay in bed after morning feed. if not, get up, have coffee, change DS bottom, change clothes if needed lay comatose on sofa for a bit. Do breakfast for DD. DS has a nap at about 10:am ish, we have lunch at 12:30 ish, nap again about 2pm ish, tea for DD at 5:30pm ish, (sometimes we eat with her sometimes not, sometimes it is at 6pm if she is at nursery). Then, bedtime routine for DS is 6:30pm start it, DD to bed at 7:30pm DS to bed at 8pm atm (will bring forward).

That is the same most days. The naps can happen at home, in the car, at a friends. The rest of my days are quite random really. DD is at nursery 2.5 days a week. We visit friends for coffee, go for walks, have lunch with friends, catch up on housework (in the morning mostly). Sometimes we don;t do much, DD plays, DS plays on his mat, and I watch tv, dont get dressed at all, other days, we are out all day.

It is quite random. I am not good at doing the same things every day/same time/every week, never really done regular play groups, although did swim baby with DD and will do that again with DS soon, and will do some stuff with DD that DS will be dragged along to.

oh, and I meant to add, I aim to get showered and dressed myself by 11am. If I can do that, i am quite proud of myself! sometimes i can do it before 9:30am, and then, i reward myself by a nap with ds

It completely varied. I tried to have something in the diary most days to give the day a bit of a structure but kept it pretty flexible so it could be fitted around naps and feeds (DD was never in a routine) and could depend on how the night had been, eg. one day I might intend to go to the supermarket, the next day I would have arranged to meet friends for lunch and on the third day I would intend to go to a nursery rhyme session in the library.

I did a few baby activities as I wanted to meet local mums but mainly did what I wanted (eg meeting friends for lunch and coffee) as DD seemed to get enough stimulation from just being out and about, seeing places and people and I kept my sanity!

With DC3 I didn't have to much of a routine apart form being up and out the house for 8.30 am on the school run and again at 3 pm. Plus dragging around other DC to after school clubs/swimming etc.

Apart from that he was demand fed and slept as and when he got the chance or needed it!

thanks for sharing. Me too I feed her on demand (she has chosen herself a strict routine! Nearly on the minutes at 7, 12, 5.30 and 9 wants a feed, always sleeps at nite.

Just worried about "play time" with a 3 month old!

there's not much "playing" you can do when they're that young. watching you doing the washing-up/hoovering/laundry is good enough entertainment at that age, or lying on a babygym or going for a walk.

enjoy this time because in a few months she will need constant amusement, as long as she's happy then sit down with a cup of tea and a magazine, or MN

Lol Grapes, doing that right now! Just needed the reassurance!
