im amazed at how much dd's swimming and horse riding is coming along. Today she had both. Horse riding was great and shes nearly got her rising trot sorted and she was trotting over poles which used to freak me out lol. Swimming she is in the top 3 in her group and next week they are going to take 1 of her arm rings away so she will be left with 2. BTW shes only just turned 5.

What have your kids done to make you proud

I should also mention she only just started back at both of these last week after a break of a few months. Before her confidence was low and now she is amazing

Last summer on holiday, my dd aged 5, went on stage for the kid's talent night - all by herself - and sang a song in French with all the actions. I could barely see for crying!

Well done to your DD.

Apparently my 8y DD is doing fantastic at her drama club. She loves it and the drama teacher came running out tonight to speak to DH, full of praise for DD and how mature her contributions are and how talented she is in varous aspects of acting and speaking.

My DD started in the reception class after Easter, so has only been there for a fortnight. On Friday night it was the village Eisteddfod and she came first out of her whole class in the solo singing competition

It's lovely when they make you proud isn't it?

starshaker · 27/04/2010 21:05

I just want to tell everybody cos im so pleased for her lol

My DD (4) loved swimming and used to go to a swimming session with me in the water with her, she was recently moved up to the next class which is without parents and sobbed and sobbed in the first lesson and I had to take her out. The next lesson was approaching so I bought her a new swimsuit and she braced herself and went in with a really determined attitude. I couldn´t believe the change and a few weeks later she´s now swimming like a fish keeping up with all the bigger kids and often finishing first - I know it´s not a race but I´m so proud after such a shaky start.

Ds age 8 passed his Grade 1 piano with distinction.
Also managed to climb to the top of Scafell Pike despite having a wobble 15 mins from the top saying he was scared of heights.

Ds1 got an E1 for his History project.

We've had quite a lot of trouble with him, not doing homework/being disruptive etc etc.

I think (cautious) he's starting to Settle Down.

Am stupidly proud of the E1.

Dd (12m) has learned "up" and "hat" and how to make an elephant noise this week.

ds (3) asked for, and then completely off his own bat, got himself a mandarin out of the fridge, a cup out of the cupboard, and poured himself some milk. And later, when I started picking up bits of train track, he bet me he could do it faster - and whaddya know, he did!

not such big achievements as some of the others here but I'm still fantastically proud.

BirdyBedtime · 29/04/2010 13:00

Well done to your DD for both the swimming and the riding. I know the swimming thing can be an issue. I'm really proud of my DD being able to swim without bands at all since 4.5 - and do brag about it any opportunity I can . She's been in classes of one sort or another since parent and baby at 4 months but went through a really difficult stage when she first went in without me - refusing to go in, crying etc. Fast forward a year and she is doing fab.

MudandRoses · 30/04/2010 22:05

My DS(4) won the drawing competition at the local Kids Club movie showing, against kids of all ages - twice!! So hard not to brag in r/l!!

SpringHeeledJack · 30/04/2010 22:09

My dd (6) wondered aloud today whether "I am really a snake or a wabbit or something and just dreaming about being a human being"

bruffin · 30/04/2010 22:42

DS 14 wants to volunteer at an organisation locally. He asked but unfortunately there is no room for any volunteers at the moment. But the leader said he much would much rather have DS than some of the others and he will see what he can do

Also he got mugged this week and his phone was taken and he has been brilliant!

CashCarol · 01/05/2010 09:21

She can't swim without armbands at 5?

MunkyNuts · 01/05/2010 09:32

She´s only just turned 5 CashCarol and it sounds like she´s doing brilliantly well, can´t believe you felt compelled to rain on her parade like that, especially after she´d been lacking confidence for a few months. Are you having a bad day?

MunkyNuts · 01/05/2010 09:37

Or was it a joke?

starshaker · 07/05/2010 10:07

Somebody who felt the need to either name change or create an account to have a dig at a child??? thats just beyond pathetic
