Hey lovely ladies, hoping you can help me.

Just been to the baby show in Glasgow and saw 2 offers..

Offer One:

30 lollipop 'pocket' Pop n' Grow Nappies (20xsize 1 10xsize 2) for £250 (RRP £350)

20 Bum Genius one size £250 normally £295

Quite a good saving, but I have to decide by tomorrow if I would like either of the packages as you have to get them from the baby show...

What are your experiences of either nappy? at the moment I'm siding with the new pop n' grow but mainly stupidly cuz I pefer the colours!

if you have ANY advice for me fire away!!

xxx

In rnw starting Monday alot of us retailers are doing reductions of up to 20% so id shope around then - i dont personally stock pop n gro but do bumgenius and at 20% off they are coming in at £217.60 for 20

mrsZaC · 24/04/2010 19:12

ooh thank you for the tip

bumgenius for me... I tried the pop n gro and found it leaked tbh, although I'm sure lots of others have had good success with it.

bumgenius are usually v reliable - not many people ever have problems with them...also there is a 30 day trial (starting from your due date/baby's birth day) so you can return one that has been used, and get a full refund on it if you don't like it.

Know what you mean about the colours though... i like the pop n gro ones too

I would go for the Pop'n'gro - you're getting 10 more nappies for your money. The size 1s go very small and neat for newborns. And the size 2s go a bit larger than a BG. The inserts are a bit better too.
But if I were you I'd ask for 15 of each size or 18 of size 1 and 12 of size 2. I'm sure they'll accomodate your wishes (in fact just tell them that NappyshedSal says so!)

Another huge advantage of the Pop'n;Gro over the BG is the guarentee. BG only have a 6 or 12 month guarentee on their nappies (can't remember which offhand) and tehy're a nightmare company to deal with. Lollipop guarentee their nappies for the nappy-wearing life of the baby for which they are bought. And they're a lovely company to deal with based in Cornwall.

i bought 20 bumgenius v3 at a baby show (on reflection rather naively) without previously even considering washable nappies - we got seduced by the offer and the fact that even DH could work out how to put them on!!

We've found them to be really good - wash well, seem to have lasted pretty well and fit better than disposables.

We havent tried the Pop n gro's so i cant comment on them but considering i hadnt really thought adout using washable nappies before we bought them i wouldnt be without them now

HTH

mrsZaC · 24/04/2010 21:33

thank you ladies, I've heard lots of good stuff about the bum genius, but i do belive that the pop n' grow pocket r new, so I may be seduced by the 2 size thing...

thank u for your comments nappyshedsal good point about the guarantee! and good to hear they are nice to neal with

Lollipop are a lovely company - you can guarentee taht you'll be getting advice from mums that have used nappies, rather than young lads or sometimes lasses who've never changed a nappy in their life!
Bumgenius did revolutionise the All-in-one Birth-to-potty nappies a few years ago but things have moved on. Other companies have copied the good bits from BG and then improved on the bits that weren't so good.
But even so, 30 nappies compared with 20 and the better fit, would persuade me to go with the Pop'n'Gro pockets anyway.

cheeksandcherries · 24/04/2010 23:26

um- we don't find bumgenius a nightmare company to deal with at all - they're v efficient and nice as far as I've seen.

Just to set the record straight. I don't think you'll need to invoke any guarantee with them either - never had to on anyone's behalf.

Why not do some google searches for 'bumgenius review' and 'pop n grow review' to see which do best?

octothechildherder · 25/04/2010 09:08

Nappyshedsal works for Lollipop

Cheeksandcherries don't - they are independent nappy seller.

Bit of bias going on there.

I have never had any problems with Bumgenius either.

nappyzoneloveslindor · 25/04/2010 11:10

Ditto - about 2 yr ago i sent back about 4 bg on behalf of a customer as the elastic had gone bizzarely around the legs ((no others have ever done this)) and they were actually really helpful and replaced them all no quibble. I personally would recommend rather than buying a bulk lot you buy a few of a few different types then if a particular brand suited get them - however im all for variety and love the fluffy ones too

Good luck

NappyShedSal · 25/04/2010 11:53

Octo - I too am an independent nappy seller. Lollipop is one of my suppliers as are other nappy companies. I do have BG as part of my range, so am technically "unbiased", but I know that I would rather deal with Lollipop than BG.

But going back to my main reason - 30 nappies against 20 has got to be a better deal. Plus a better fit. (Plus the colours!!)

octothechildherder · 25/04/2010 11:59

Yes but you do work for them aswell as being independant seller.

MamanPorcine · 25/04/2010 12:04

I agree with nappyzone - buy a few of each rather than going for a bulk buy, then see which ones you like. It's pretty easy to sell used cloth nappies (just not on eBay).

Personally I found bumgenius v3 to be great, just not quite a birth to potty nappy as my (largish) ds3 grew out of them before 12m.

octothechildherder · 25/04/2010 12:39

I should add that Lollipop are a great company (I did use to work for them too)!

Why don't you buy one of each or a couple like NappyZone said and test them out first.

peachybums · 25/04/2010 13:53

I like the lollipop nappy i have but i LOVE my bumgenius stash! Lollipops dont seem to be as good for my toddler and we do have a leak from time to time.

mrsZaC · 25/04/2010 18:58

thank you so much for all your help ladies. I really appreciated all your input.

In the end I decided to go for the pocket pop n' grow, and hope that I don't regret it! The lure of the £100 saving proved too tempting, anyway I'm happy and hoping that if I find they don't work as well i can exchange some of the ones I haven't used or sell them.

From chatting to people at each stall I have to say I did prefer the lollipop advisors rather than the bumgenius ones, but I'm sure they are both as good as eachother.

Thanks again for your help.

Thats good news

Mammamia2 · 28/04/2010 19:15

Nappyshedsal so you work for lollipop then?

cheeksandcherries · 28/04/2010 19:36

that's good - best thing is that you are giving cloth a go, rather than going automatically down the disposable route. Hope it all goes well!

NappyShedSal · 28/04/2010 23:28

Mammamia - I am an independent nappy seller like most sellers on here. I started out 6 and a half years ago as a Lollipop advisor. Last year I became independent, which means taht I still stock Lollipp nappies and all the other brands that Lollipop sell, but I also stock some brands that Lollipop don't stock. Some brands I buy direct from Lollipop, some brands I buy direct from the company. I only stock nappies that I like - obviously!!

But last year I was asked to join the Lollipop team at the Babyshows as I am one of their best selling advisors. This is on a self-employed basis. So technically I don't work for Lollipop, but do help sell their nappies at the Babyshows. But I've only been asked to do this as I obviously genuinely love the Lollipop nappies, and therefore have always sold loads of them.

Does that set your mind at rest??!
