Just curious, really.

I was looking at my (frankly, gorgeous ) 1 yo dd earlier as she crawled rapidly towards the bin again and giggled as she did so, and was thinking how wonderful her sense of mischief was. I am sure it will cause me problems later on (she gets it from her dad, so I am expecting loads of ganging up...), but I love it.

She also has the most wonderful dirty laugh which occurs frequently - so easily amused. The way she giggles to herself with no obvious cause is so infectious!

I love the fact that she enjoys her books so much that they can calm her out of a brewing tantrum.

I love her utter concentration when embarking on an important task such as scooping all the soil out of a potplant.

I love her dancing.

I could go on, but I can hear the distant and collective sound of retching. Sorry!

Please do share! It's a lovely day and we need some baby lovin'!

Mine aren't babies anymore, but here goes...

DS1 is 7.5. I love his maturity. He has always been very sensible, even his nursery teacher said he had an old head on young shoulders. But this means that he is fantastically responsible, always helped me a great deal when his younger siblings were little, and he is a fantastically protective big brother to them.

DS2 is 5 (nearly 6). I love his cheekiness. He has a "take me as you find me" attitude, is so laid back he is almost horizontal, and gets away with murder with a flash of his cheeky grin!

DD is 4. I love her self confidence. She has just started school and has taken it all in her stride, she walks in like she owns the place and makes friends instantly.

I love them all equally, but in very different ways.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 13/04/2010 11:22

DS is kind and gentle.

DD is always so happy and smiley.

catastrojb · 13/04/2010 12:35

Oh, they sound lovely! helyg, are they not always our babies?!

I love DS1's generosity. He has always been so willing to share.

I love DS2's determination. He is such a stubborn, lovable little bugger boy.

flootshoot · 13/04/2010 21:46

I love how mischievous DS is. If he's doing something he knows he shouldn't he'll wait for me to notice. The amount of times I've turned to see him standing with one finger on the TV's off switch with a cheeky grin on his face....

Wanderingsheep · 13/04/2010 22:02

What a lovely thread! I love it when people say lovely things about their children on MN.

I love the way DD (2.10) sings all the time and how she can talk a glass eye to sleep.

I love how affectionate she is and how she always asks for cuddles.

I love how when she gets excited she squeals like she is unable to contain it. When I am cross with her and I'm telling her off, sometimes she finds it funny and she'll collapse into hysterical, infectious giggles and I can no longer be cross!

I love how cheeky and bright she is.

Sorry, written a bit too much there...

I just love love love her so much!

angel1976 · 13/04/2010 22:10

I was just saying to DH the other day that the best thing I LOVE about DS1 (almost 2.2) is how much he loves people and how enthusiastic he is about spending time with people. Whether it is his grandparents or the cleaner, he shows complete interest in what they are doing and just wants to involves them. He is now trying to involve his 5.5 months old brother in his play and it is so sweet to watch. I came into the living room today and he has given his favourite toy at the moment (a Fireman Sam fire engine) to him.

DS2 is still little but he is such a little ray of sunshine, he is so smiley, even when I got him out of bed waking him up from his nap for a doctor's appointment... And boy, does he lap up the attention!

CirrhosisByTheSea · 13/04/2010 22:32

I love DS' ability to converse. Chatting to him is such a joy, even when he monologues. Once he talked all the way from home to the shop, and once in, without a breath he said "wow, I can't believe I talked all the way here! So, mum, I need to get....." and so on

Everyone keeps telling me he will lose the power of speech as a teenager - never will there be a bigger change in a child!
lovely thread

SoLongAsItsHealthy · 13/04/2010 22:48

My DS is only 9 weeks but reading this thread makes me so look forward to his little personality emerging! Funny, before I had him I would have groaned at some of these comments - now I think "Ahhhhh....."

Wanderingsheep · 13/04/2010 23:11

SoLongAsItsHealthy, it's funny isn't it?

When DD Was a baby I thought that I wanted her to stay a baby forever. Now that she's a toddler I want her to stay like this forever, it's like every stage is just as good as the last and it's so exciting seeing them grow up into people!

plonker · 13/04/2010 23:25

Dd1 is so trustworthy and sensible - a real reliable friend. She has a wicked sense of humour and is very dry. She makes me laugh. Lots!

Dd2 is an absolute bundle of mischeif! She drives me potty so much of the time but has the most beautiful and infectious smile and is the most loving child you could hope to meet.

Dd3 is a little princess who has us all wrapped around her little finger. She's the cutest little sausage with a fantastic belly laugh that sets us all off.
She's so sensitive and seems to intuitively know when you need a hug, bless.

They're great girls

choosyfloosy · 13/04/2010 23:36

now he's 6 it's the same things in slightly different shapes

i love ds's energy, how as soon as the door is open he will be off like a rocket down the road, singing and talking and jumping all the way

i love his cheerfulness and sociableness

I love it when he cuddles up against me and relaxes totally and becomes a dead weight

i love it when he gets massively overexcited and shouts

must go and give him a kiss

moominmarvellous · 13/04/2010 23:43

DD is 3 and I just love her personality!

I love that she's outgoing and likes talking to people

I love that she's had a sense of humour since about 9 months old and loves nothing more than to make us laugh

I love that she takes things in and remembers them and then surprises me with these little things that I never realised she knew (e.g she once said 'Hello Mummy, mummy, mummy, mummy......' and when I laughed at her being silly and repeating herself she said 'Oh don't worry, it's just my echo'! :D)

I couldn't have wished for a better personality for her....i just hope it doesn't change when baby no2 comes along.

BertieBotts · 13/04/2010 23:45

I love watching DS (18 months) just doing his thing, he is always so busy! And his precision is amazing - when colouring for example he doesn't scribble all over the page but just on one thing. And he will pick up the tiniest speck of dirt from the floor or his highchair tray and make urgent noises until I take the invisible speck from his finger

moominmarvellous · 13/04/2010 23:47

plonker your girls sound lovely - I know you're not supposed to say, but I'd love all girls!

Wanderingsheep · 13/04/2010 23:49

Aww, they all sounsd so lovely.

Isn't it strange how we all seem to like similar characteristics of our DC. Their cheekyness, sense of humour, how mischievous they are, how talkative they are etc...

MarineIguana · 13/04/2010 23:51

DS's amazing creativity and the fact that nothing goes into his brain and comes out unchanged. He takes stuff in, decides it should be different and comes out with his own madcap version. (School is going to be fun...!)

DD is still tiny and I feel I know her very little so far but I love love love her furious/irritated/"am I surrounded by idiots or what?" facial expressions. I know all small babies do that but hers really are classic.

helyg · 14/04/2010 07:58

catastrojb: yes they'll always be my babies, but my 7 yr old DS tends to object to being referred to as one in public these days

catastrojb · 14/04/2010 10:50

flootshoot that's exactly what dd does!

Love the image of talking a glass eye to sleep...

wanderingsheep I totally agree - I keep thinking that I couldn't love any stage more the one dd is in at the moment, and then before I notice she has moved on to the next one and it is every bit as wonderful.

I've been reading these and now have a huge soppy grin on my face! Keep them coming - they are lovely and are brightening my day...

DS1 is very serious and earnest and it's very endearing
DS2 is sensitive and very caring and gets all worried about things he really doesn't need to be worried about (like if I will be ok on my own when I go away with my friends for our annual DH-and-kid-free weekend)
DS3 has a big booming voice which doesn't seem to fit with being 2yrs old and of the 3 is the most rough and boisterous and likely to do more damage to the house and his brothers

All 3 of them seem very little when it's bedtime and they're tucked up in their PJs.

eandh · 14/04/2010 11:09

DD1 has changed so much since starting school last year and on her own (minus dd2 to squabble with) she is a fantastic little person to be around, she loves coming shopping with me and if I am going out adores picking out my clothes/shies/accessories and sitting on my bed whilst I get ready. She is very lovable and really worries if one of her friends seems upset/unhappy and always drawing little pictures/attempting little notes to cheer people up.

DD2 is challenging (she was so laid back until she hit 3) but at times she can be the funniest little thing, perfect sense of comic timing and the funniest laugh in the world, she is also the snuggliest one of the 2 of them and can curl herself into a little ball in your lap and insist she can be the baby

They are very different children but I wouldn't swap them for anything (well 99% of the time anyway )

mamazon · 14/04/2010 11:19

this is such a cool thread.

Ds is 9 and autistic. I love that his extremes of emotion mean that he can go from being so terribly upset and angry about something so trivial and yet a moment later he is laughing and giggling. I love that he has the most infectious smile. that he is so very caring and loving. that despite not really understand "jokes" he has the most fantastic sense of humour.

DD is 5 and is such a madame. I love her impossibly sharp mind. her wit and intelligence. I love that she is destined to be a vet or midwife because of her passion for babies and animals. I love that she is so like me and yet so very different.

mostly i love that they are mine.

ShadeofViolet · 14/04/2010 12:15

I love my DS1's imagnation, he has just turned 9 and is always making stuff with lego or junk, or drawing. He wants to be an inventor.

DS2 is so cuddly, he is autistic but loves having a cuddle. He also has the best laugh ever

DD is as bright as a button and can bum-shuffle for britain. She is just learning a few makaton signs and its so funny to watch her signing 'Baby' or 'Toys'

plonker · 14/04/2010 23:51

Ahh thanks moomin

Yes, it's lovely having a little tribe

ln1981 · 17/04/2010 00:25

This thread would bring a tear to a glass eye, its so lovely!

ds1 is 6, and I love the way that his imagination just takes off.it is like being taken on the wildest adventure ever sometimes.i love the little books that he makes, mostly lego star wars, too.

dd is 4, and I love the determination that she has with everything she does. she has this never say die attitude and nothing is impossible to her.she also has the dirtiest laugh i have ever heard from a small child!

ds2 is 2, and I love his cheekiness.i have no doubt that he will be the class clown once he gets to school! I love that he still has no fear too, its never really been 'scared' out of him yet.not always a good thing granted but in a crazy way, wonderful to watch (whilst keeping everything crossed that he really doesnt hurt himself!)

I love that for the most part all three of them get on very well, they look out for each other and make sure that no one is left out. And I love all the wet slobbery kisses and strangles cuddles that they give me!
