Kind of an AIBU really

I have changed my talk name for this because I think I might sound like a bit of a cow, but I am honestly interested in opinions.

The q is - aibu to think my SIL shouldn't have said this in front of her DS (3.5)?

"He's just SO naughty, ALL of the time. I look forward to the days he's in nursery so I don't have to stay home with him".

Her DS looked crestfallen but carried on with what he was doing! I don't think he IS naughty but obviously I am not with him 24/7. He plays up sometimes but they seem to shout at him for the slightest thing. Anyway I completely understand that she reaches the end of her rope sometimes but for her DS to hear that from her, isn't good is it? Or don't you think it matters?

She probably is having a hard time as they also have a younger dd, and I have offered to help with them when I can. I just felt sorry for her ds

YANBU, you shouldn't say that kind of thing in front of your kids, especially when they're old enough to understand it

but it's hard not to sometimes, if you're under stress.

YANBU. Unkind and unlikely to help his behaviour.

Absolutely YANBU, I find this sort of thing really really upsetting.

Poor little chap

Thats awful!! You shouldn't say things like that in front of your child, no matter how you are feeling.

What is it with adults who don't think that some subjects shouldn't be discussed in front of children! Grrr (I know a couple of people in my family like this).
