Can anyone recommend a baby carrier for newborn?

Hi I am looking (on Ebay) for a baby carrier for a newborn baby, one that the baby sits in the front on your chest facing me. There are so many I dont know which to go for. Also I remember that certain types were recalled for being dangerous but wasnt sure which ones they were as obviously I want to steer clear of those. Any recommendations would be great - I want to start doing a bit of walking to get some exercise & the fresh air will do us good! Thanks in advance

get a moby

ill second that! i had a baby Bjorn for DS and he hated it as a newborn, and was then too heavy for my to carry by the time he was 5mo so it hardly got used.

this time around i bought a moby and its fantastic, soooo comfy and snuggly for your newborn and can be tied in so many different ways as they get bigger. i looks daunting to tie but honestly its really easy.

my DD loves it and everyone comments on how comfy she looks

Hi thanks - got one it came today, I will try it out when he wakes up. Any tips? do I have to get tightness right before I put baby in?

i have a close baby carrier- its a bit like a moby to look at when on but a whole bloody load easier to put on as you pop it on like a t-shirt rather than tying it. Have a moby too lent by SIL but gave up on tying it up- wanted something much faster. One slight downside is it can get very warm in there so put your DC in less clothes than you expect otherwise they will melt!

I loved our baby bjorn. Was great for post cs when I couldn't manage buggy.
Unfortunately ds is huge so it was soon too heavy to do. I'm keeping it fir no2

We don't have a carrier, but a sling. Our DD sleeps beautifully in it and after a few practice runs it's easy to put on. I second what Thandeka said though about the baby easily becoming far too warm.

We got ours from Hoppediz but Didymos also do a good (but more expensive) one.

You have to use ALL carriers, slings and wraps carefully. Used correctly they are safe and a lovely way to carry your baby, but always check that the baby isn't in any way deprived of air. DD usually turns her head to the side so she can breathe freely, but if she doesn't, I do it carefully myself. Just like with any other piece of baby equipment, it's your responsibility to make sure your baby is safe, no matter if the manufacturer guarantees 100% safety.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound preachy - I am certain you didn't need to be told that - but after that awful case in America, I had to remind myself of that.
