Morning,

My dis is research based, but we have to do a lit review too. No totally sure where I am going with the lit review and my tutor is away till next week.

What should I be aiming to do in my lit review exactly?

I've done 1500 of it, but a lot of it quotes or things I have re-phrased. Not sure how to bring it all together and how to link everything. Any ideas much appreciated as motivation is wandering some what !

I have been told the general idea of the lit review is to discuss general themes of what has been researched in the area previously. Looking at both methodology and results.

Then you have to consider what's lacking in the previous research and justify how your own research fits into the gap.

Good Luck

Right- what is your topic???

phoenixflower · 09/04/2010 10:04

Thanks for the advice.

My topic is 'Using Interactive whiteboards to motivate and engage children in learning'.

I have lots of quotes that say things but not so much actual research. That was 1 of the reasons I wanted to research it, as I couldnt find much research on it Mainly as I am not sure where to look!

put your key words into Google scholar- it should link you to any research articles on that subject.

have you got a search strategy etc?

phoenixflower · 09/04/2010 10:16

a search strategy?? I haven't heard of that before so I am guessing I probably don't!

a plan of how you hope to find your articles- ie which electronic databases you plan to search- what your exclusion/inclusion criteria is- what your key words are etc.

your topic sounds quite 'broad' for a lit review- can you 'narrow' it down so that you are finding some specific information relating to it? It will help you find relevant articles

oh I see what you mean. I have access to all the journals etc through my university. I have found some relevant ones which I am using ( i think!).

Yep I have got my Lit review into 6 smaller sections.
