We have a 2 and a 3 year old - what shall we do tomorrow?? I would really like to do something that the kids would really enjoy with us as a family.

Katisha · 04/04/2010 21:30

Get there early if you do.

Science Museum - usually not as busy as NHM.

Or the Eye.

Or Corams Fields if it's not raining.

The Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green is brilliant. So is the Horniman Museum in Forest Hill for kids that age.

MrsTriangle · 04/04/2010 21:56

Thank you for your fab replies - where is Forest Hill?? Also - is it scary? I have a rather 'sensitive' 3 year old

We went to the science museum yesterday and had a great time! The queue for the natural history museum was enormous so we didn't bother with that.

Corams Fields great idea though particularly easy to get to by myself so may do that later in the week when DH not around.

You could nip into the best bits of the British Museum as well, if you do Coram's Fields.

MrsTriangle · 04/04/2010 22:04

oooh which bits of the british museum would you recommend?

Corams fields?

I would do Museum of Childhood then. Bethnal Green is not difficult to get to with the tube. The museum is free and it had lots of interactive bits for fairly young children. My DS1 was 2 when we went and he loved it! They also do a lively interactive story telling session, which he loved. Horniman Museum is a bit further out. It's great as there's a mini aquarium in the basement and also some animals out in the (massive) park. Both firm favourites!

My DH loved the Museum of Childhood too as it actually brought back lots of memories of his childhood. I can't speak for that as I didn't grow up here. There's even a small sand pit the kids can play in and an under 3's area that your DCs will probably enjoy. And a cafe with nice food for the kiddies.
