Should be starting in september, hopefully to gain place at uni for next september.

I'm prepared for it to be hard and exhausting. How hard is it, really?

Is it enjoyable?

I've been told that the actual degree in nursing is EASIER than the access course!? is this true?

Any advice would be apreciated.

I did the Access to HE in Health Studies in 2006/7 to get into Uni to do nursing and found it quite easy. Passed top of the yaer, full marks across the board PLUS extra credit to top up the UCAS points needed.

I didn't enjoy the science aspect too much but that's mostly cos my tutor for that class was a first order BORE and a bit of a creep to boot! But the rest was awesome, especially psychology and Health Studies.

There is a lot of work to be done, loads of notes and essays etc (I was so proud that I kept all mine!) and it helps to get a good tutor group as there is a lot of group interaction. Also, find out the TOP book recommendations for each class and get them, I found 1 per class was ok and then used others in the library but the TOP recommended book will always vanish in the first week so best to get the best edition you can second hand (Amazon, Freecycle, Gumtree, Greenmetropolis)...I wish I had kept mine to give you

Personally, bs is Access harder than nursing UNLESS that is that the nursing degree is easier than the access course unless you do your nursing at Kings College London where they HATE mature students!!! I loved my time on the Access course but hated nursing at Kings so much that I ended up really ill after a year and had to leave! But that's just my experience of it.

Best wishes with your Access course, I'm sure you'll love it!

I took an access course as I didn't have science A'Levels and have been offered a place at university, not started yet but I do not anticipate life getting easier.
The one thing I would say is that you need levels 3's straight across the board and as much work experience, voluntary and paid as possible to stand out from all the A* 18 year olds applying, 20 for every place last year.

Make sure you go to the open day and do as much research as possible, nursing times, online forums etc to help you prepare.
