Leaking terry night nappy

My 2.5 DS2 has always been a very heavy wetter and his night nappy is soaking every morning. The problem now is that for some reason he has started leaking his nappy at the front and his pj's and bedsheets also get soaked. I use terry nappies boosted at night with Boots pull on plastic pants over and have'nt had any problems until now. Any suggestions?

Is he maybe getting his hand down there and having a fiddle with his willy? Ds has phases of this and is usually due to leaving himself pointing up or to the side

Well, that could be it! I always make sure his willy is pointing down when putting on his nappy, but perhaps it needs some more padding where it's wanted most!

From my own experience it's important to get the basics right, like the right nappy fold, plenty of boosting, and ensuring all the nappy is tucked into the plastic pants/wrap. Having said that DC are sometimes restless at night and may fiddle with their nappy as Indith has described, causing leaks. Babygrows solve that problem when babies are small. I think you can get all in one sleepsuits from Mothercare up to six years of age which might be worth considering.

If the problem is fiddling with his willy, then the best solution is to put him in a poppered vest at night. That way he can't put his hands down into his nappy. You can get them in large sizes, well at least up to age three or so, and the ones I have are generously cut to cover bulky terry nappies.
