Already fully stocked on both, I'm afraid, but bump for you, and would whole-heartedly recommend both to anyone with children of the right age.

Thanks M. My little one is hooked on Tchoupie for the moment and 'Oui Oui', 'Barbe a Papa', finding 'Ours Brun' and 'Trotro' too young probably. I need to buy some others for her age, she is nearly 3. Any advise what children of her age like?? i have only just started speaking french to her but she is doing amazingly well. Thanks

My daughter (just turned 2) likes "Mila raconte 1001 histoires" which feels like it's aimed at older children, say, 3-4.

5 Rue Sesame has its moments, too, although it's almost unrecognisable from the English-Spanish original.

She also likes the trailers for SamSam and Bali, but we don't own them yet so I can't tell you how "old" they are. And, of course, SamSam is aimed more at boys if you let that sort of thing worry you.

Then, of course, most of the English stuff is available in French if you want to go down that route, e.g. La Petite Princesse and Peppa Pig.

In general, I would say, check these things out on Youtube.fr before buying - free and easy.

Lydia, I've just seen your thread and wondered if you had sold the DVDs yet? I'm interested in the Petit Ours Brun ones if they're still available as DD (17 months) loves the books and also the section in Popi magazine he appears in.

Miflaw,
Thanks for your advise, i was thinking of getting Bali, not so sure about the english cartoon translated in french, but we watched 'Boucle d'or' the other days 'Goldilocks and 3 bears' in french and she asked to watch it again and again about 10 times...a bit too much??

I do know what you mean about English cartoons although the translations ARE for the native French market (i.e in proper French) and, for my daughter at least, Peppa is neither English nor French - she is bilingual, like she (my daughter) is.

She also very much likes Elliott and Casimir (l'ile des enfants) but they seem quite hard to get on DVD - I picked them up, not really knowing what they were, in a CD and DVD exchange in Lille.

I would say the same about the Canadian series Pacha et les Chats - very good when I've seen it on TV5, but impossible to find on DVD (have you still got a VCR knocking about? All easy to get on cassette, I think.)
