How do you entertain your nearly 7 yr old DS?

What do your 7 year old DSs like to do at the weekend? My DS is almost 7 and has two younger sisters who now play together and DS says that he has no-one to play with at home and wants to go on computer/watch TV all the time. We have limited outside space and I can't spend all the time at the park with him - so any ideas?

My DS2 is 7 next month.

We do a lot of footie at the weekend - training on Saturday, he plays a match on Sunday, and often goes to a match with DH on Sat pm.

If that's not of interest to yr DS, how about cricket? rugby? etc as a sporting outlet? Or go for a swim - it's free for children at our local pools.

Otherwise my DS2 loves to do craft and play games (things like Monopoly etc); we sometimes have a friend round at weekends; or there are lots of things on locally at National Trust places, libraries, local museums etc.

Thanks for your reply Clary - you have a football crazy DS! My Ds does swimming on Sat and rugby on Sun but it's the time at home that I have difficulty occupying- but I will try Monopoly etc like you suggest

Children need other like-minded children to play with. If your DS doesn't like playing with his younger sisters, he needs to have friends over or have outside activities (sports etc) with other boys.

My DS wll be 7 in June. If we are having a day at home he likes board games, card games, baking cakes, puttng on 'funny shows' (wants to be a comedian when he grows up) playing on computer, playmobil, marbles.

He can entertain himself for a while with Lego or drawing.

DD is nearly 4 and they do play together, but it normally involves lots of argueing!

Again thank you for the ideas - I will get some board games and look for some sort of activity books but I think that Bonsoir has hit on the nail on the head. He has suddenly got to the age where being with friends is really important so I must make more of an effort. Where we live that means arranging "playdates" in advance rather than just knocking on a friend's door to see if they want to play out which is how I remember it from my childhood!
