DH has lost all parenting skill?

MAy be this should be in the AIBU thread, but DC2 is now 9months. I thought DH would be able to deal with her, but he seems to have forgotten anything that he ever knew about DC1. Prime example - he goes to her in the night when she screams, as he leaves our bedroom I suggest, she may just be stuck as she has just started to roll over. He comes back less than 1 min later, DC2 is no longer screaming, but still crying loudly. I then have to go and calm her down and re-settle her to sleep, whilst DH snores !
Another occasion he just turned the monitor off as a reaction to her crying !
Please help, do I have to sit him down and explain that babies need to be loved? Or do I accept he just can't do kids less than 2yrs. (He's great with our 4yo)
P.S. Please don't lecture on controlled crying, the crying is not the problem, it's the DH !!

Sometimes they do just need to have it spelled out to them, don't they?

yes they do have problems with the short term memory So 3 years is a lifetime! Maybe he needs more practice. Supervised obviously !!

I've certainly found that DH does far less with DS2 (5 months) than he did with DS1 (now 3). I try to content myself with the fact that he does stuff with DS1 which leaves me free to concentrate on the baby (although I would sometimes like him to have them both so I can have some peace!)
