I'm considering doing an art course, I've found the one I want to do it's part time (either 2 evenings or 1 eve and 3hrs on a saturday) when the course starts I'll work from 8-5.30 ish as a childminder, on top of these hours I have EYFS paperwork, accounts and usual paperwork. I also have 2 dd's (1 at secondary, 1 at primary) I would need to attend college for 6 hours per week and do 8hours a week at home.

Would this be too much to commit to for 2 years or would I manage ok? Can you all tell me how you manage to fit everything in?

Lovemygirls, I say go for it!
I am in my second year of a foundation degree in early years.
I also work full time and have a DD at high school. DS is currently not working, after finishing his apprenticeship and DH works full time too.
I attend college 1 evening a week, straight from work, until 9 ish. It is a very long day, but I really enjoy it, because I am doing it for myself. I have loads of motivation and am determined to get good grades so I can do the top up to a full BA Hons degree.
I tend to do my studying and research at the weekends, mostly on Sundays.I do tend to get up earlier than everyone else, so I have some quiet study time in the mornings.
We take it in turns to cook weekend meals and the DC help with the housework.
I like to think I am setting my family a good example too. You are never too old to undertake any form of study.
I have another year left of my foundation degree, and then another year on top of that to get to the end of the BA.
After that, I can do either the EYPS or the PGCE, so I still have a long way to go.
Good luck!

I work part time, 24 hours per week, attend currently for 4 hours and have an immense amount of reading to do and 1-2 essays per term. I have 2DC aged 2 and 4. The only way I manage is that they are still at nursery for a few hours on my two day offs, otherwise not sure how I would manage.

You can do it but you need to be organised and disciplined in the extreme.

Go for it.

Purepurple - part of my motivation was about setting a good example too.
