Washable pull ups?

Do they exist? Or are there any brands that you can put on / take off easily with them standing up?

Having not gone down the washables route, ds (16 months) has been in pullups for a while as getting him to lie down except when he's poo'ed is a waste of effort.

I would still quite like to try washables since he's probably got another year at least but don't want to go back to a nappy that I have to get him to lie down to change.

Any thoughts?

The only thing I've come across so far is a kooshies training pant - which is useless. Holds nothing at all. Shall be watching with interest.

A friend recently bought a minki yoyo and her on gets on brilliant with it! And its so nice all in rainbow colours!

vicdubya · 16/07/2005 22:09

Thanks Popsycal exactly the sort of thing I was looking for.

The swaddlebees look good!

If you've used them for a toddler how often do you generally change them? They say one liner may only last 1.5 - 2hrs and a 3-4 hr change may need two liners, I only change ds' disposables every 4-5 hours.

Also, as these are pocket nappies & don;t have a liner next to the skin, how do they cope with exploding poo?! Ds is quite fond of those especially when he's eaten a lot of fruit. I can't see a 60 degree wash getting the stains out either?

I think that's it with the questions!

anyone any experience with the swaddlebees? how easy are they for a child to pull up and down themselves?

NannyL · 20/07/2005 18:50

i know of people who succesly fully use mother ease snadys as a pull up....

guess you would need pull up water proof bit as well, so would be a bit trikier for child to master

Hulababy · 20/07/2005 20:49

We have Moptherease Bedwetters, which are pull up. Not sure on how they'd be to use during the day though - only used them for bed. Never leaked or anything on us, although takes ages to dry!

vkone · 21/07/2005 22:25

I got a swaddlebees v recently to try as a pull up and it seems to be okay - they are incredibly small tho very elastic and I have just had a exploding poo to deal with - it didn't escape at all despite DS being sat in his highchair at the time (why oh why can't he have nice solid poo like other children )

Like fuzzis, they're fleece lined and so shouldn't stain that easily. I was being cheap and only bought one insert - they're hemp and need alot of washing to get them up to par but I haven't had any leaks yet.

As to pulling up, I've done it but DS isn't yet ready to do this himself so can't really answer that one.

I am interested in this thread, as Im too thinking about buying these washable pull-ups, but I noticed they are fleece lined, and fleece is renouned for being very warm too weear (great in the winter). Do any of your little gets rashes from the warmth. I bet they are really comfortable though!

vkone · 08/08/2005 17:21

The fleece is great, it doesn't get too hot or too cold really.

I've also got Fuzzi Bunz that have the same fleece and it doesn't seem to stain (tho it's amazing what some sunshine will do!). The nice thing is that the pocket dries really quickly, so you don't need so many, just lots of inserts.

I've been having a look and Happy Heiny also do pocket pull-ups, which could be worth a try

EllenMP · 07/11/2008 15:23

Twinkle on the Web also has Mother of Eden Overnight Undies which look slimmer than the motherease pull-ups and so better under day-clothes. Haven't tried them yet as I am just getting onto pull-ups. My other kids would lie down for nappy changes but my 11 month old won't!
